Why didn't they trade him to the Lions for a 7th and pick up his salary? If he's going to give the team the middle finger, they should have responded in kind.
OBJ might be trying to pull an Antonio Brown and get released so he can go to a contender of his choosing. Though he won't mind if the Browns refuse to cut him I guess.

Can't they hit him with a "Detrimental To The Team" 6 game suspension at least like the Eagles did with Terrell Owens or the Bucs did with Keyshawn Johnson? That way he's at least not getting paid to piss on them.

The salary was the issue, I guess they didn't want to do Odell any favors...which makes sense. The Saints are interested but apparently they didn't have the money to pay him 2 games worth of salary lol

That's why I said to send him to the Lions or some other NFC team that has very little chance and no chance of him coming back to burn the Browns.

He can probably just say "personal issues" if he wanted to, tbh.

LMAO... this situation just keeps getting better

Although Browns fans might freak out about it, they will soon forget about him because DPJ was already outperforming his bum ass.

Keep him inactive for that time then just don't play him for the rest of the regular season. Then you have more time in the offseason to trade him + teams will have more flexibility. If you can't find a partner you can still cut him, no guaranteed money in 22 and 23 but hopefully you can trade him before training camp where a bonus kicks in. He also gets a bonus if they make the playoffs though so they might decide to cut ties early

good job dad

Browns informed WR Odell Beckham of his release.

Profootballtalk's Mike Florio initially reported the move, while Yahoo's Charles Robinson has since confirmed it. Since the trade deadline has come and gone, Beckham must first clear waivers even though he is a vested veteran. Florio reports that is where the tricky part comes in, as Beckham has agreed to a "revised contract that reduces the team’s obligation to pay Beckham, if he’s not claimed on waivers and becomes eligible for the balance of his salary termination pay." As Florio points out, the key for Beckham is making sure his salary does not go low enough that he actually gets claimed. Beckham wants to clear waivers and be free to choose his new home. Robinson reports the Browns "failed to receive any trade offers for Beckham," with perhaps only the Saints even considering one. Slowed by injury and intrigue during his star-crossed time in Cleveland, Beckham's initial market could be uncertain, but he will undoubtedly draw interest from a gaggle of competing teams.
