If any of you are interested in war documentaries, I highly suggest you watch this film. I will be uploading youtube clips in 10-15 minute parts over the next couple of days. I hope you will enjoy.

It will be well worth the wait, it takes at least an hour and a half to encode and upload each part up to Youtube. It takes long because I published this in full HD 720p so all you hi powered pc/laptop owners can enjoy this in all its Hi Definition glory in full screen. This is not a DVD rip, but a real time screen capture so you will see the netflix bar on the bottom. I could have captured this in full screen mode to eliminate the bar, but I would have sacrificed some picture quality.

i saw the trailer for this in the summer and was looking forward to it coming out on dvd

and so im laying in bed channel surfing in early December and i come across this documentary on pbs (i think) and i start watching and its a scene where a US soldier is meeting with an afghan villages elders trying to negotiate payment for the soldiers killing their livestock and I kept thinking of the cdn soldier who found himself in a similar situation and ended up with an axe in his brain.

totally engrossing ... it was near the end but kept watching and it ended up being Restrepo ... was totally surprised it was on tv

AH thanks for reminding me! Not to go totally OT but this post just reminded me to download a documentary I heard about today called "Cowboys in Paradise." Apparently it's about female sex tourism in Bali. Western women go to Bali and pay these beach bum gigolos to be their boyfriends while they're on vacation.

Good stuff. I watched your clip and then just rented it off iTunes and really enjoyed it. It's not landmark film, but it really takes you inside the day-to-day on the front lines and keeps you on the edge of your seat with the tension.

I really enjoy these types of documentaries. I served in the Army for 6 years, so this type of film is right up my alley. I do not support what we are doing in Afghanistan, but I support the soldiers who have to go and live and survive there. They are just like you and me, no different. I just don't agree with our national policy. I wish we would take care of our borders first before we go fucking around near Pakistans.

quickly watched this part without sound

the part with the meeting between the soldier of higher rank and the village elders about the killing of the livestock is in here ... if i remember correct ... the elder asked for $500 bucks? but i guess the soldier was worried he'd take that $500 and by weaponry with it

when i watched it last month I couldnt help but think ... easy solution ... just replace the cow if you dont trust them enough to give them money ... but i guess its just easier to say no money for you and keep the mistrust alive on both sides
