Sometimes people get upset when children are killing themselves all over the country. It can strike in you empathy for the children and anger at the people who cause it.

I guess I will never see why opposing gay marriage is causing suicide. But I guess it is easier to blame someone who disagrees with you, then finding the root cause of maybe a psychological problem leading the suicide. In any even your dude appears to be a hateful individual.

You really don't understand that not feeling socially accepted and be told that you as a person are wrong and evil can cause deep depression for people?

I think most people live with some type depression and acceptance issues. I dont see fat people getting angry with skinny people and blaming them for suicide.

I get it, but why focus on gay and lesbian bullying. Why scope it down to that when bullying in and of itself is a major issue.

^^^^ This.

It has expanded.

But to take out the focus was to water down the message. Straight kids already have a million role models out there. Most of their family, their parents' friends, the athletes they look up to, whoever are straight. The point of the project was to show normal, everyday people that gay kids could look at and see how life improved for them - there are kids in small towns, hell, many places that don't even know another gay person. They don't understand that there is a life away from the hate and isolation. This project was started to show them, to give them hope.

If it leads to other conversations on bullying (as it already has), so much the better, but the original purpose shouldn't get lost.

I know this is a little off topic, but I'd have to say my favourite is KFC.

Geez. Nevermind. You're obviously very stubborn and shortsighted.

So your dude is focused on a certain group of people being bullied and not the act of bullying. I get it now...Quite the role model

So it is short sighted to see everyone has these issues and not focusing on one group. You should look up short sighted...

It it shortsighted to believe that everyone is equally mistreated in their lives. I can tell you for sure that as a straight person I have not been bullied, threatened, beat up, etc for being straight. And I have seen a lot of gay people in my life who were absolutely tormented just for the fact that they were gay. And I live in Northern fucking California!!!

If you can't understand that gay people are consistently singled out for abuse among all genders and races in this country, then I really can't continue this conversation with you. Cause it won't go anywhere.

Kids are bullied for many reasons. Being fat, being short, wearing glasses, being a Christian, being Jewish, being Muslim, being ugly, being poor, etc, etc, etc.

RE: Gay and lesbian bullying vs. other types of bullying...

Are the mentally handicapped told that God doesn't love them?
Are fat people told that their obesity is an affront to God and they are more evil than Al Qaeda?

You're right, I don't know why people focus their most vicious bullying on gays and lesbians.

I am not saying they are not singled out. I am saying they are not the only ones.

Poor kids are singled out
Fat kids are singled out
Scrawny kids

The list goes on and is not limited to gays. All I am saying is why focus on a tiny aspect of bullying.

You do realize that organizations exist for tons of different specialized shit, right?

Like there are ones for different cancers...one for all cancers. One for animals being mistreated, whom I guess don't care about humans.

It's nice to have organizations for all kinds of things. This started out as a bunch of everyday gay people + a sex advice columnist posting videos and the fucking President ended up posting one. It's saved lives. Straight kids have found hope from it too, so don't worry, they're not being persecuted.
