A day after Ruben Tejada was beaned with a fastball and departed Wednesday's game in Seattle, the Mets have decided to promote Wilmer Flores from Triple-A Las Vegas. Kirk Nieuwenhuis has been demoted.

Flores is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in Thursday's series opener at Milwaukee.
The Mets did not have a bona fide backup shortstop on the major league roster, and otherwise would have needed to use Eric Campbell at the position. Although Tejada continues to suffer no ill effects from the beaning by Taijuan Walker, Terry Collins had indicated Wednesday that Tejada was likely to get at least one day off.
Collins has been leery of having Flores on the major league roster and not playing. The manager indicated Wednesday that there were no immediate plans to promote Flores. In fact, the Mets flew to Milwaukee from Seattle without Flores, even though Flores was playing nearby in Tacoma, Wash., at the time of Tejada's beaning.
Flores just lost a 22-game Triple-A hitting streak on Monday. He hit .340 with eight homers and 32 RBIs in 26 games during his latest stint with Las Vegas.
Nieuwenhuis is hitting .246 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 57 at-bats the major league level this season.
I'm liking d'Arnaud in the 5 spot, hoping he makes that his home for the next few years.
I sure wish the Brewers forum had this much activity.
Keep hangin with us, we could use the traffic ourselves!
Turrbul performance tonight. Turrbul.
Keep your hopes up for the series. The Brewers at home leave a lot to be desired.
