Ranking the best fan bases in college football. This is a different way of looking at it.

The Emory study uses three main metrics:

“Revenue premium,” meaning, in the simplest possible terms, how much revenue the college brings in relative to other, similar universities. It’s a measure of the intensity of passion.

“Return on investment,” how well the school’s investment in football pays off on the field and in the stands. It’s a measure of the efficiency of the program.

Straight football revenue, a measure of the size of the program.

Sounds like this guy has been to the Jerry Jones school of football.

Not...."Just Win Baby."

But, "Just have the best ROI baby."

definitely one of those "I'm bored, I should write an article to rile some passionate CFB fans up" articles

This is stupid. Best fan bases are at places like South Carolina and Ole Miss. They are showing up and filling that stadium, whether they win 6 or 10.

Oregon #8 in this so called best fans article. Yet they are #4 in getting tossed out of games. Interesting take, yet pure shit. :)

Yeah makes no sense. Bama has the best ROI of any program. They bring in the best players and win the most NC. Isnt that the goal?

Something like that.

All I know is that given the state of Texas Football over the past years, something is fucked up when they come out #1.

What does wins have to do with rating fans?

Apparently everything if you read the article. Since the more you win, the less you can be at the top. Alabama doesn't rank higher because "it's easy to be an Alabama fan" in their own words(which in itself suggests their shit is stupid, because that means Alabama is obviously getting huge returns).

Basically Texas is #1 because you have a lot of fans and money donated to the program, but you do shitty in games so that makes you the #1 fan base. But to me, that means you are getting a shitty return on investment, not the best one.

Also the formula isn't so grand either since it values money more than anything. As even with the wins of Alabama, still ranked #12 just because of the money itself.

Furthermore, I find the notion that the Texas fanbase could be the best in college football to be off to put it nicely. Seems like one of the worst fan bases in terms of unreasonable expectations and bullshit the coaches and such have to deal with. Runs right up there with post Bear 80's Alabama. And obviously, Alabama ain't gonna rank up high there in that category either because we have more than our fair share of stupid fucking fans. But return on investment - that's another story.

Are you arguing it is not easier to be a fan of a winning team?

Didn’t Saban complain about fans coming late or not showing up a year or 2 ago?Why would you get fired up over a BS article about fans, when your own coach called out your fans?

You should watch the move "The Color of Money". The trophy is just eye candy. The real money is in the practice room.

I don't see where I said being an Alabama fan is hard, I said that in itself is a sign that Alabama gets better returns on investments.

And did you not see the part where I said Alabama wouldn't be the best fan base? That's kind of the opposite of being fired up about the topic over my team/fans.

I just looked at the article and came to the conclusion it was dumb.
