Why doesn't Texas just go independent already? It's clear everyone hates them.

If the Big XII does expand in the future, I like the Conference Championship format it has now, have the top 2 teams in the conference play in the championship game. No divisions.

So, let me get this straight - the Big 12 has 8 teams, and the Big 10, has 14 teams. But the Big 10 can't give the Big 12 back 4 teams so the shit makes sense? Or, how about just change the names to the Big 8 and Big 14?

OU, Texas, Kansas and WVU should just join the B10

Big 10 West
Oklahoma
Texas
Kansas
Nebraska
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota
NW
Illinois

B10 East
PSU
WVU
Maryland
OSU
Michigan
MSU
Rutgers
Indiana
Purdue

8 conference games for football ( guaranteeing a true division champ ) and allowing teams to reengage in old school rivalries OOC.

In basketball you play everyone one time and each team gets a natural 3 team rivalry from within their own division each year to get to 20 league games.

Each division would have 3 traditional blue bloods, multiple other teams who have been relevant ( top 10-15 ) frequently over the last decade , some traditional 6-7 won type bowl teams and a few cellar dwellers .

It would be the best conference in football AND basketball by a wide margin

That's a ridiculous idea - for multiple reasons. First off, West Virginia doesn't have the academics to be a candidate for Big 10 inclusion. Not sure if Oklahoma does, either. Second, an 18-team conference would be too unwieldly.

Got any more pipe dreams?

I thought that's what a message board is? Lol

The LA teams will be in the division with the TX/OK schools, not WVU.
The Big12 is going for the throat next tv contract, it has to to stay close to the BIG and SEC the PAC does too for that matter but again, the interest/commitment/money just isn't gonna be there. When the valuable schools merge with the Big12 it will be for some of them at least.
I see no way in hell the Big 12 can come close to the B1G and SEC TV money. I could be totally wrong. JMO

That’ll be a sad day for us dude. No lie
It would be a huge drop in coin. The only two national draws are G-O-N-E, gone.

The same could be said if the 2-3 national draws in every conference left their current one. There are only a handful of teams that can draw a national audience on a weekly basis.

Big 12 doesn't really have to do anything, the money is better than the ACC & pac 12, their conf title game looks smarter than anybody elses, and the have the best scheduling for football & basketball in America.

Merge and purge

PAC and Big 12.

Merge, then kick out the six schools wit the lowest average paid home attendance leaving a 16 team super-conference

I agree. I’ve oft wondered and mentioned it in this thread if the B12 could survive without Oklahoma and I think the answer is yes. A conference with Texas can survive almost anything. Not sure how the playoff committee would think of them though with OU.

When it comes to dissing Texas, I'm like 13 years old.

Kind of what I thought, and that's too bad. I always hope for intelligent comments on a message board. I guess I'm asking for way too much.

You have about four more that have come over.

@CowpokeU , @Stake , @The.Waving.Wheat , me, and 1 more I think.
Oh crap. Just what we need! A bunch of imposter Aggies! (You guys ain't a cult like the real Aggies in Bryan-College Station are ya?)

On second thought, a UTEP graduate should appreciate and honor the alma mater of one Don Haskins.

My apologies. Salud :suds:

Not a bad idea. The ideal situation would be the other conference take some of our teams for us. WVU to the ACC, Iowa state and Kansas to the B1G. The Big 12 could then leave K-state behind, and the Pac could shed their two lower performing schools and BAM, we got ourselves a super conference. I'd keep all 4 Cali and Texas schools for recruiting/footprint purposes.

If we add, I want LSU and Ark. They fit the demographics, we move back to 12 and the conference game rotates between KC, Dallas and New Orleans.
