Why would you say that? I like Desir but he is a 4th round project in my estimation. The kid did well at a very small school but honestly he isn't even my best small school corner prospect. I have another guy rated higher than him.

i can Desir is predominatly an off corner who may struggle playing tight man to man in the NFL. and his speed was not exactly electrifing

Yeah really wanting to hear this reasoning. Desir honestly doesn't impress me. He has good measurable but not great. He was a turnover machine I guess but against very inferior quarterbacks and receivers. He did good not great at the Senior Bowl where McGill showed he was/is the better prospect. Again I have other small school Corners rated higher than Desir even so using a 2nd round pick on a guy that is a major project that needs at least 2-3 years to develop isn't quite what I want to do with such a high pick.

Im having a hard time picking defensive players. Offense always seems to be best value on my board. Im really high on Sankey. To get my #1 RB in round 3 seems pretty sweet.

I say NO more picks, trades, etc until we decide what to do with the illegal trade that happened that Nos keeps bringing up.

Not many RB's have gone.
I think everyone has the perception that its a deep class and they can wait. Getting late first-early 2nd talent in rd 3 works for me, though

Desir… 4.59s 40
McGill… 4.51s 40

That small of a difference in 40 time doesn't mean squat on the field. Neither are "electrifying" in that case.

But to me, both are considered projects. McGill possesses the better cover technique with man-to-man coverage, but he is not a great tackler. That's the only thing that worries me. Desir IMO is the better tackler, and has better ball awareness. I didn't watch the senior bowl, so maybe McGill would have changed my opinion about him.

So the illegal trade was Indianapolis 2.27 to San Francisco for 2.29 & 6.29 correct?

So why not make the trade:
Indianapolis 2.27 to San Francisco for 2.29 & 6.14?

McGill has better deep running speed and could fit in just about any defense. Desir is a ball hawk who plays off and is limited in his ability to play close coverage. he needs to have a good front 7 in front of him putting pressure on the qb so he jump on the ball. if you have a bad pass rush with him he can easily be exposed. that is my take on him from the scouting reports video and senor bowl.

I can agree with that. Desir doesn't have great hand technique for man to man coverage so the receiver often beats him. If he could learn to redirect and be more physical then I think Desir is the better prospect. But in terms of raw ability I think you may be right with McGill.

I dont think he is an every down back. I also had him in fantasy last year and Martin has struggled in the red zone throughout his career. They need a goaline guy. And some oline help.

Desir IMO is the better tackler, and has better ball awareness. I didn't watch the senior bowl, so maybe McGill would have changed my opinion about him.

Well here is what I have on the two of them so far in my research. Desir dominated at the lower level but was rarely asked to play press-man coverage (which is what the Broncos like to run). During the Senior Bowl week they asked him to try this and was dominated during those drills. As an Off-Man cover Corner he did fine during the Senior Bowl but this is why he struggled in one-on-one drills as receivers were able to easily toss him to the side. Also tackling wise coaches noticed that Desir can tackle but shies away from it if possible. Doesn't like to get physical unless he absolutely has to. Most scouts noted that Desir shows promise but is a major project for some team. Now on big boards that I have looked at I have seen him as high as 2nd round as you have him but as low as 5th round. So it just depends what you are looking for.

Now McGill on the other hand thrived in the one-on-one drills because in college for Utah he was asked to play a ton of Press-Man (again what the Broncos like to play). He showed great hip fluidity especially for how big he is and had no trouble getting physical with guys. Needs some work on how to use his size more to his advantage as he didn't have to use his hands as much to control receivers in college but that is something that can be coached up. Shows better long speed than that of Desir and is better at high pointing the ball. Desir is the better catcher of the football compared to McGill but McGill is a lot better at locating the football and batting it down.

So for these two it comes down to preference I guess you could say. Both show promise but both are projects. To me McGill is less of a project and will be able to help his team year one a lot more than Desir. For the Broncos they have a small window with Manning left so finding guys with future promise as well as possible immediate help weighs into the equation. They have used later round picks to get guys like Desir while using the 1st 3 rounds for guys that can help year one if need be.
