Maybe the solution to our missing GM problem is to set a rule at the beginning that if you miss the deadline then the BPA is picked from a predetermined list like walters need or no need. That will keep the draft going and keep it realistic. Passing works but not realistic....

Picking for someone isn't realistic either and when you make picks for people they don't come back...

I would worry first about guys not showing up during the current draft before I worry about guys not showing up for the future. Next draft if you have it in the rules that if they miss their allotted draft time then a player will be picked for them then you wont have to worry about offending anyone. Of course you cant do it know because the draft is half way over but next time it could be a option.

These are the rounds my lack of knowledge shows....was my sorenson way too early?

Jets have a compensation 4th rounder....i wanted 2 guys with the 2 4ths, sorenson and one other...the other i'm pretty sure will make it to the compensation pick and possibly 5.17 so i went wit sorenson.

i really think you did reach on that one. this is a weak safety class this year and i honestly dont think he gets drafted... i could be wrong but thats my take

I don't think he's worried about offending anyone..........if he says that, than many will draft the first 2 rounds and leave knowing someone will just fill their picks.

Thing is nobody has just never showed up, I don't think we have ever gotten more than about 8 - 10 picks ahead of a missed team. If people just never showed up I would agree and in the past if we picked for a team and they didn't like the player or seen we made their pick they wouldn't come back.

Most people would rather pick 6 picks later than they were suppose to than have someone picked for them. Maybe next time we can ask everyone which they would rather do.

So the way we have it is what works best from what I have seen over the years, I wonder how much more we can talk about this. :L

7th round or undrafted is my opinion. others here may have a different grade on him. but im not really high on him in anyway. you can use Walterfootball.com player rankings for the rest of your draft if you want, it can give you a pretty good idea of where people are at. he doesnt even make waterfootballs list...

What was the point of leaving a list and having a asst gm. Maybe if those 2 rules were enforced we wouldn't be having this convo. It's a mute point now. I'm not bitching just trying to think of a way to help speed up the next draft. If I'm ever allowed back

What's up with the team draft you were talking about?

How do I enforce the rules?

Believe it or not there are teams that do leave a list all the time, UK Cowboy always gets me a list, there are some teams that do work with an asst GM. The problem is there just isn't as many people on the hoop as there was on cBS so it's harder to fill these things up with people who will be active.

The team draft will not have so many people in it i'm thinking 8 and we need to decide if we want to do a current player draft or an all time draft. We will have a playoff to determine who drafted the best team which has always been fun.

Yeah, walter was waaaay down on him, other sites had him 4th-5th. I just hate the Jets safety position.

EJ Gaines is a really interesting prospect. Ive obviously seen a lot of him but he benefited from having a great pass rush and a weak LB/S corp that teams targeted. As a result, Gaines comes out looking like a heck of a prospect yet isnt getting any buzz for shutting down guys like Evans and having a good overall season. I think he'll go in the 3rd round somewhere.

sometimes you gotta bite that bullet and not draft a position of need even though you really want too ;)

Which is where I think I drafted him in our 1st mock...

i think he is a 4th round player... i say that and he is my favorite corner in this draft.

Gaines has skill set to play multiple types of defenses. at Missouri he played the scheme they ran. but has shown ability to play man and cover2 schemes as well. what i like most is he is coachable and will play the way the coaches want him too. so he wont be a guy who wants to play his way. i think he develops into a solid starter number 2 corner type. in a few years at least, he will help in nickle packages this year at the very worst

There really is no weakness in Gaines game. Like I said, he looks like he should be an elite CB prospect but it was masked by a few things at Mizzou for better and worse. I think Gaines will have a solid career as a #2 CB and maybe play some nickel CB, too.
