I checked the box score to see that the 5-0 lead we had today was blown, not just by one pitcher, but TWO!

Joe Squanders, yes, I can see if he was having trouble, but I've been disgusted with Brenda Mauron ever since the one game where he never got out of the first inning, way early in the year.

Hopefully, he'll be out of here next year.

He's a 23 year old pitcher who jumped from AA to the Majors due to his performance in Spring Training and the Mariners' lack of a better option at the time and you want to get rid of him? I get ragging on guys like Saunders and Harang and wanting them out in favor of the younger guys with greater potential. They're veteran guys who have been around the league a while who were basically placeholders until those younger guys were ready to go. They've already peaked as major leaguers and are on the downside of their careers. Maurer was just an over-matched rookie who rose through the ranks too quickly and wasn't ready for the majors just yet. They should keep him in AAA to start the season next year and let him gain some experience and re-gain his confidence down there, not give up on him entirely.

It was utter stupidity to have him go from AA to the majors, no matter how well he did in spring training, which is and always will be completely meaningless.

There were lots of other options, no matter what know nothings think. There always are.

Let him get his legs under him and take his knocks at AAA for a year's worth of appearances or until he proves himself ready. He'll prove it soon enough, I think, because he has good stuff. He seems like a good kid, and a hard worker, and I'm betting he ends up with a good MLB career.

There were lots of other options, no matter what know nothings think. There always are.

They put all their eggs in the Ramirez basket and he got hurt which caused chaos because they didnt have a plan B for him. I mean Saunders was the only real addition and he ended up being a downgrade from what Vargas gave us.

The only option other then Maurer really were the castoffs Bonderman and Garland. The fact that we had to pick up Aaron Harang off the street to upgrade the rotation shows what shambles the 4,5 spots were for basically the whole season.
