Why would it interest the city of Vancouver? Or is he just being clever?

Just as AZ is looking like a playoff possibility too. If they're moving, it's probably as good a time as there ever has been for it to go and be a draw in its new home.

I also don't understand why it would affect Vancouver. Seattle will be expansion no? I don't see a relocation anywhere else near here,

That was my only thought - that maybe he was hinting that they might be Seattle-bound which would be of interest to nearby fans.

Botchford just talked about how Vancouver will be “auditing” Bennings performance and should the coyotes be leaving town for Houston, now would be the best time for them to look at what Chayka has (not) done. He then went on to make a case for mike gillis as new coyotes gm lol

My friend always jokes that Surrey is big enough to support its own NHL team lol, no I don't believe that and the only other city close enough that could potentially host one is Portland which would.affect seattle.way more than Vancouver.

I think the NHL is determined to see a good team in Florida at least once before biting the bullet there. Same as they saw with Carolina.

It's really hard to give up on markets of that size, especially when the viable alternatives are markets of such small stature (even if their hockey fandom is unquestionably more solid than the previous markets).
