Padres reminding me that they are a .500 team since well before the all star break.

Likely over tomorrow. Astros will be heavy favorites but the Phillies got hot at the right time. Hopefully it'll be a good series.

Still crossing my fingers they can steal it tomorrow and bring it back to San Diego, but everything they did right against the Mets and Dodgers has been absent this series. Trent Grisham is just too shitty a hitter to stay hot for more than 10 days.

I take it all back. Hand came in and we still had a happy ending
A great example why wins is the most flawed stat in modern baseball. He gets the win tonight haha. It had immense value when rubber arm pitchers used to throw 130-140 pitches and go the whole game.

It’s never easy. Weather is going to play an impact today. Really hope they don’t lose Wheeler to a lengthy rain delay.

LOL....SD down by 1 run with the game and season on the line and with 2 runners on and 1 out in the 9th, the Phils reliever throws 2 pitches (1st one was bunted to move both runners up)...but the 2nd was a fly ball out to end it...Game. Set. Match.
Not sure what Nola or even Bob Melvin were thinking there.
Wouldn't you have Nola at least take a pitch or 2?
Maybe a WP, PB or Balk ties the game.

Tony Gwynn is rolling over in his grave.
(one thing for sure, he definitely wouldn't have gone after the 1st pitch in that situation back in the day)

yeah that bunt was weird. Did they not have a right handed bat on the bench?

He had to have been bunting for a hit.
I mean, it's rainy, messy field, starter coming in as a reliever, first pitch.... not a terrible decision.

Ranger is just a badass.
Excellent athlete/fielder.

Yeah I think Ranger just missed qualifying for the gold glove because he didn't have enough innings. Now that I look at it they really didn't have anyone on the bench except Myers but they already used him .

He didn’t have a hit in the series. That was actually his most productive plate appearance in 5 games. I guess the thinking was that he’s an out anyway. You might as well make it a productive out and away from the double play. Also Nola is a righty with Ranger pitching. He was a big clutch bat for them earlier in the playoffs.

I said ay the beginning of the playoffs Philly could be dangerous if it got good relief pitching and it has.

man - Harper almost screwed me in the fantasy baseball playoffs- and really did not do much since returning after his injury- but the playoffs it seems like he finally get healthy. He has been on a historical tear.

Nola/Wheeler and a lot of hitting is a nice combo- esp. when the bullpen can step up like it has.

Great series. Felt a lot closer than 4-1
Definitely was entertaining. I'm kinda relieved I don't have to go through that stress again tomorrow.

Best of luck in the World Series!

2022 World Series:

Phillies 96-77 vs Astros 113- 56

Odds: Phillies +$140, Astros -$165

Odds are against the Phillies but they have a solid chance with Wheeler and Nola starting it off along with supporting big guns Schwarber, Harper, Hoskins, Realmuto, and even Castellanos.
