His reaction was to that K was so Belt...Third string catchers are his kryptonite!
Decent haul for a 39 year old. Not sure it is ENOUGH of a haul for the "buy it now" price...
I wasn't expecting much for an older closer on a 1 year deal, so getting a high upside guy seems like the best outcome. He might not be MLB ready until 2017 or 2018, but the Padres are rebuilding anyway. This should also make Myers a lock to being the Padres all star, with Rodney being his closest competition. Pomeranz still has an outside shot, but with the number of great starters in the NL it's unlikely they choose him.Decent haul for a 39 year old. Kid was drafted last year out of HS. If he BLAZES, his earliest chance at San Diego (or whatever other team he gets traded to) is late 2018. 2019 is more likely.I wasn't expecting much for an older closer on a 1 year deal, so getting a high upside guy seems like the best outcome. Yeah, 2017 was being too optimistic. I still like what I've read about him and am willing to wait a few years before he debuts. Assuming he's still on the team.Kid was drafted last year out of HS. The Padres signed a number of SS. They got the 2nd, 4th & 6th rated players. The Padres & the Braves look like the teams that have signed the most guys.

Yep, signed Rodney for cheap after trading Kimbrel and got a young arm with good potential for him. He wasn't gonna make a difference for the Padres the rest of the way, so they had to trade him with how great he was. I'd rather get a young pitcher like Paddack over some middling starter or reliever who has a low ceiling. It's what you get for an aged reliever. Not a bad trade from the Padres' point-of-view, even if the kid does nothing. Your best bet for a reliever is a lotto ticket and that's what it sounds like.
The walks have been a big weakness, in his 3 worst starts he gave up 12 walks in 14.1 combined innings. He's been great at limiting hits though, his 67 hits allowed ranks 2nd in all of baseball minimum 80 innings.Pomeranz has only walked 4 batters in his last 27 IP (4 starts). Before that, he was walking 4.44 batters per 9 IP.
