Sources: Niners open to trading 1st-round picks

The San Francisco 49ers are fielding trade calls about both of their first-round NFL draft picks, Nos. 13 and 31 overall, and are open to dealing either or both selections, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Niners currently have no selections in the second, third or fourth rounds, and they want more picks, sources told Schefter.

That makes sense. Parlaying those 2 picks into 3 or 4 would be the smart move.

Should have traded that 1st Rder for a player midseason (or sooner) when they realized their defense was a contender. Couple of teams were fire-saling their lockerrooms.

Trading 1st Rd picks seems to be the going rate anymore.

Wonder if this is fielding trades just to gain more picks or could it be to acquire a player. Like maybe Jamal Adams for a 1st...just an example. It sounds like they want more draft capital though.

i read they don’t pick until round 5 after their 2 firsts...def need some more capital.

If Kinlaw, Ruggs, and Thomas are all gone by 13, (assuming nothing stupid like Okudah or Young drops) then I'm all for falling back.

if they can get a partner so they can get back into the 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th, they probably should. there's usually a lot of talent and value in those rounds.

Heard some of these rumors before. Not so much Ford and Alexander. With Ford if true he might be dealing with a chronic issue that caused him to miss time that can't be fixed. Goodwin they have been trying to unload for some time but I doubt anyone is offering anything for him anyway. He has gotten worse the past couple of years since his near 1,000 yard season. Tartt is someone I've never heard come up before. Surprised since they really seemed to like his play. They have tried trading back in draft before but never get what they are looking for in return except the Trubisky trade.
