a four-team bidding war will do that.
Good for Willie.

Kings D looks pretty damned strong on the top 4 now.

no one else was offering 2 years though apparently ... so you would figure the kings could have offered less

and yes, LA needed to make a splash at something after being bridesmaid all summer long.
so winning a bidding war may not be a bad PR move

I dont know ... is it really a splash if the guy is a defensive dman possibly 1 hit away from retirement? and is it really a bidding war if no one else was offering a 2nd year?

I guess its a better pr move than blowing their wad on Kovy and then not being able to sign Doughty, Johnson or Bernier after next year

it's a body that they didn't have before, that other teams were trying to get.
it's management being able to say "look, we didn't actually do nothing this summer"
but yeah, it's a lot of dough (and term) for a big question mark.

Yeah, I don't think I would have been as happy as I thought I would've had it been 2 years AND at 7 Mil. Probibly would have been fine with 1 year at that price or 2 and less, but damn.

And you were talking about the Kings needing to make a "splash", Caps were basicly in the same boat as the kings

I must agree that I think it is an overpayment in cash ans years. However the Kings have always needed to do that. IF he can stay healthy he will be a great help to Jack Johnson. Last year Jack was teamed with a revolving door of scrubs. Having a stay at home guy to team up with will be a great help.

Sorry Bolts but I don't see JJ getting traded. For that top six forward the Kings need I don't see it happening. The Kings can not lose a roster guy right now. Maybe if the some team needs a back up goalie (Ersberg) or needs to lose cap space for prospects.

Now I feel a little better that the Kings can get the #5 spot in the West.

Makes opening night in Vancouver a little extra special (with the Kings in town).
