Look jackass, I'm fine with Tua.. it's the Tagliolini, Tagviolin... Tag, ah fuck it. I think I made my point.

Sure, his last name is quite the quandary. If he thinks I'm learning how to spell it though, he can take a seat next to Jimmy Garopolis.

I believe the 5th year option must be picked up by the team before the player begins his 4th season.

Yes you're correct, I forgot to add that. Picked up by the end of the third year.

Fully guaranteed? Is that quickly becoming the new norm or did I sleep through it already being the case?
Isn't the NFL the last hold out of the major NA sports leagues to have fully guaranteed contracts?

Yes...most of the high 1st round picks are fully guaranteed...I forget where that cuts off, but not all 1st rounders are iirc.

Looks like the top 25 picks get 100% or near it...that started to change with pick #26.

not that simple

NFL rookie contracts are determined by a complex formula that considers the league’s 2020 “rookie compensation pool” of $1.4 billion across all teams, as well as the $198 million per-team salary cap. The rookie pool is divided among the 32 NFL teams based on the clubs’ number of picks and where they fall within the draft. This year, the contracts for first-round picks range from $10.8 million for No. 32 pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire to the $36 million due Burrow.:suds:

right. there is no black & white cut off when the contracts are guaranteed & not.
Heard where there are times all the 1st round picks were guaranteed (which is what I had been thinking was mandatory) then heard other times some late 1st round picks werent fully guaranteed.

Me personally. I will always assume a 1st rd. contracts has been fully guaranteed until I hear otherwise.

Maybe you're right....but most of these rookie contracts are slotted for overall salary and signing bonus. They are all 4 yr deals with a team option 5th...the offset language is typically the biggest negotiating point.

The more you crunch the numbers, it's too uniformly trending to be negotiated.

2019 draft

24...Josh Jacobs...OAK ...$11.9/$11.9 G/$6.7s

This was the last 100% guaranteed contract....all after this one the gap between the total contract and guaranteed amount got slightly wider with each lower pick.

For instance.

25...Marquis Brown BAL...$11.7/$11G/$6.5s
26...Montez Sweat WAS...$11.6/$10.5/$6.4s
27...Johnathan Abraham...$11.4/$10.2/$6.3s

I skipped to the 32nd player just to see if the trend continued as such and it does.
