nhl10 is sick. that game is amazing. however i am surprised nobody mentioned nhl 94 in this thread. also ice hockey for nes was fun and blades of steel which somebody mentioned

I like 94, but 95 was pretty much the same game but with Create a Player, roster movement, Regular Season, and the NHL Awards (with three nominations per trophy - only on the Genesis version). I liked that 94 showed out-of-town highlights in the intermissions though.

Oh, and honorable mention to NHL Breakaway 98. First game to let you hire coaches to build up specific attributes (passing, goaltending, speed) and trainers to perform different treatments on injured players. You could even buy a pre-game newspaper to know the story going into each regular season game and adjust referees from strict, moderate, lenient, or random. And it played all right, too.

I was a big fan of the NHL Hitz games. Mostly because I usually scored by first hitting the rest of the team into the crowd, then checking the goalie before I took a shot.

I play NHL10 a decent amount on PS3. I am OK I guess but have trouble scoring. I really like it.

I dont think I have ever enjoyed any as much as NHL 97 though.

I played with the NHL09 5-5 team champions (w.e its called) a lot in 08 and 09 and some 10. But my favorite NHL game is Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey 98. NHL 94 is my second.

I love NHL Hitz, that was one of my favorites for sure. I used to be so good at it too. I scored 55 goals in one game once.

That was a fun game. Laod the box up with guys and then kill the ref to get them all out. And if you were losing you could always just knock their players out until they couldn't ice a full line.

I recently downloaded Blades of Steel on the Wii and started playing it again. I am not as good as I used to be and have a tough time playing on the professional level. My favorite game is NHLPA'93 for Sega Genesis. I could just have a goalie and Mario and beat any team by 15 on that game. You couldnt knock the puck for Mario ever!

I can't believe that one slipped my mind. I do remember this game. I played it on Sega all the time.

Same. The newer ones are pretty badass, but 2002 had the NHL Cards system and the commentary from Hughson/Taylor. Can't beat that.

"Keep your head up next time, Chuckles!" Love that Taylorism! And the PA announcements are hilarious! "Don't trust the smiling penguin. Good luck Mr. Spy!"
