2002 has always been my favorite

Same. The newer ones are pretty badass, but 2002 had the NHL Cards system and the commentary from Hughson/Taylor. Can't beat that.

1. NHL 2002 (PC)
2. NHL 09 (Xbox 360)
3. NHL 95 (Genesis)
4. ESPN NHL 2K5 (PS2)
5. NHL Stanley Cup (SNES)

Did you ever use the "dump the puck between the center ice circle and the blueline" strategy to score?

Only when I desperately needed to preserve my perfect season! :p

For some reason, that was the only way I could score. That, and skating just inside the blueline and dumping it off the boards, then having the goalie chase it, leaving me an empty net.

I mostly set up Vincent Damphousse on odd-man breaks with, I believe, Kirk Muller. I'd have to pop in my cartridge to check the numbers, but I don't think I scored too many with my defensemen except for a handful here and there with Eric Desjardins.

That's one of only a handful of hockey games I don't own. :p

fwiw, i think they used our recorded sounds from that session for NHL97 too, but I'm not positive.

The goal horn in this game might be the most satisfying because it was so hard for me to score.
