Seems to me that formula should be adjusted so that the teams with 3 consecutive playoff years don't have the same odds as teams with only 2 of the last 3.

So the Blue Jackets have 5 balls while their closest competitors have 3 balls. That's a big advantage for CBJ. I honestly wonder what Howson would do if he had the 1st overall pick. The last two GM's to blow the pick Milbury & Waddell aren't GM's anymore.

If Howson is around to make that pick there is either A) No God or B) some major flaw in my weapons design.

As for an indication of what he would do with the first overall- this year, knowing he had to trade Nash, he would have skipped Grigorenko and Yakupov and drafted Murray anyway. Had Edm taken Murray, he would have traded down and passed on Grig and Yak with that one as well.

Well at least they only got knocked down to 2nd. Under this format they would be lucky to get that. I figure they probably have close to a 50% chance of getting the #1 pick one way or another if there is a season. Certainly not a guarantee but much better than the 10% they have with this format. And they'd probably have about a 75% chance of picking in the top 2.
