Nathan MacKinnon would look good in a Jackets uniform next June.

Yeah, but who do the Jackets have to trade to Edmonton for the pick?

Nah, since we'll probably miss the season and they'll go with a lottery like they did the year Crosby went number 1, I'd imagine Phoenix will "win" the lottery and the franchise will be saved.

Wasn't there a post somewhere (possibly in the CBA strife thread?) where someone docucmented the odds of each team getting #1 overall, assuming the whole season is lost and the same formula as last time is used?

:pizza: to whoever can dig it out.

So the Blue Jackets have 5 balls while their closest competitors have 3 balls. That's a big advantage for CBJ. I honestly wonder what Howson would do if he had the 1st overall pick. The last two GM's to blow the pick Milbury & Waddell aren't GM's anymore.

I never get tired of posting that chart and looking at the Oilers row (three consecutive No. 1 overall picks) and still a craptacular team...

Nope, the Jackets have 3 balls in the hopper (no additional balls awarded)

What amazes me about the Oilers is their cap situation. One would think with all the money being spent on the roster they would finish higher in the standings.

The Rangers have 1 ball. The Kings have 1 ball. That means the Blue Jackets have 5 balls in the hopper right?

No, the number of balls column is accurate (provided they use the same formulas as 2005). Jackets have the same chance as Flames, Leafs, Stars etc. at 6% of landing the No. 1 overall pick.

The BJ's have the Rangers & Kings picks so they would get the pick if either team won.

thus giving the BJs 5 balls to pick from
