NHL Offseason Redraft

Me and awaz have thought of an idea where we do this in the offseason to kill some time:

key points:
1. everyone would draft teams of 11 (2 fwd lines, 2 dpairs, 1 goalie)

2. we'd use a salary cap, probably half of the 2014 salary cap since it's essentially half of a team.. maybe a little higher since we'll have so many players available

3. we'd use salaries based on 2014 cap hits

4. there would be a little grace period in between the draft and 'the season' for people to make trades or replace players on their teams with guys that went undrafted

5. pending number of participants we could have a little season and then a playoff or something, determine winners based on votes. essentially I'd start a thread of Team A vs. Team B, and you vote on who you think would win.

basically like a little 'be your own GM' game and then the 'best GM' will be determined by games won.

This time unlike the playoff one, you can pick anybody, not just those who made the playoffs - we want to see how many people will join - in a perfect world we'd love 30 people and have 20 players per team but we will wait and see who is interested

What we were thinking was having a re-draft(you know what that means I would guess) where you get to draft players(within the NHL salary cap) and then we'll have a mini-season where each drafted team plays each other at least once(we'll figure out a schedule later) and then we'll tally up the regular season points or whatever it may be and then we'll do the playoffs

Actually no, what we'll do is for each matchup in the regular season you'll vote for who you think has the better team in that matchup

For example if I face you and I get more votes for my team then I win that matchup and get three points(you'll see point system later on in the post) - if we are tied in votes then I'll randomize on random.org to decide the winner, the winner gets two points and the loser gets one point

The system will be 3 points for a regulation win, two points for an OT win, one point for an OT loss and no points for a regulation loss

Exactly, it's like a re-draft

The only difference is that I'd like to make it an NHL themed point system, three points for a regulation win(if you have more votes than the other team), two points for an OT win(if you win the tiebreaker which I'll do on random.org), one point for an OT loss and no points for a regulation loss(if you have less votes than the other team)

For example, if I face awaz's team and I get more votes than him in regulation, I get three points and he gets none - if we both get the same amount of votes, the game goes to OT and the winner via a randomizer gets two points, the loser gets one
