NHL in Houston would be a failure. They just need to admit that hockey in the South just isn't as popular.
I'd love for an owner to bring a team here to Atlanta

Fuck, we can't have TWO teams called the Rain Coats.
Hockey in the south is a hard sell. Preds are doing well, Tampa are also, but Carolina, Phoenix, Dallas, Florida are not.
On the same note, a team in Atlanta would be great for me, but I don't think it's a good move for the NHL.
Stars are doing just fine. Not sure where you get your information on them. They were down when Hicks turned them over to the courts and Tom Gaglardi & Jim Lites have had to rebuild the brand since Gaglardi bought them but the core fans (like myself) are still here. Winning solves a lot - no doubt... butt to lump the Stars in with those other markets without looking deeper at this market is a bit myopic.
To add to this, youth hockey in Dallas (and in Texas generally) is doing very well.
And there has been some success coming out of the Phoenix AZ youth system

I'd love for an owner to bring a team here to Atlanta that won't screw us over like the Liberty Media Group did. With Atlanta growing and growing with more 'yankees' coming down, it might be within the next 10-15 years, however, after having 2 franchises, I'm not sure. If I had a few millions, I'd do it in a heart beat.

The same group that now owns Formula 1?
Yeah, I'm absolutely basing this off of attendance. Not looking at youth hockey or anything.
2010-11: Dallas was 23rd
2011-12: 28th
2012-13: 21st
2013-14: 27th
2014-15; 19th
2015-16: 14th
So obviously on the rise, but just looking at that alone.
Not sure, but LIberty Media owns the Braves and Hawks.
Thrashers were owned by The Atlanta Spirit Group
Yep. Those were the dark years before Gaglardi bought the team in 2013. Hicks damn near killed the franchise. It’s on the way back.
Okay - Well I'm glad to have Sharpie back, and I wish Hockey was better attended in the South - Florida, Arizona, and Carolina are in a bad state of affairs.
Hate that you guys lost the franchise in Atlanta. Have a couple of coworkers there who made 10-20 games a year. Needless to say they were pissed at how that went down.
...Not like any of that matters to Bettman, though. Fugger's probably scoping out Puerto Rico as we speak.
