Except it aint true.

Josh Harris, 76ers' owner, in line to be next owner of Devils | NJ.com

The Devils problem is the owner Vanderbeek saddled them with a shitload (technical financial term) of debt. ($205MM to be precise. The team is actually profitable from operations but no where near enough to cover the debt service. Phoenix doesn't even turn a profit before debt service...so any potential buyer knows the will loose $$ at least for a while

How could the Devils NOT be profitable from operations? They're in the cup finals every five-seven years! 2011-12 was the only year the Coyotes have ever won a series; in the previous ten years they'd won a TOTAL of four playoff games.

Also New Jersey gets snow at least once a year.

I'm well aware that it isn't true, my argument is simply that it's silly to make the assumption that just because the NHL had issues with the Coyotes that it shouldn't try to save the Devils. Like I said in my first post, Devils have won 3 Stanley Cups, they have tradition, shouldn't bother anyone if the NHL tries to keep the Devils where they are, especially after what they did to keep the Coyotes where they are.

While what you are saying makes perfect sense from a hockey standpoint from a TV contract standpoint (which is the ONLY reason the NHL wants to keep the team in Phoenix) it doesn't so that's why I am glad we apparently have two local buyers bidding.

Guy has deep pockets which is a nice safety net. Over $320 Million, Pru Center probably added a decent amount to the price. I wonder if the Devils missing the playoffs is a blessing in disguise. If they added revenue would Beek have continued to try and tread water?
