OK I;ve figured it out.

Here a re the stats from last year. PP minus PK time.

Holy...what were the Bruins doing last year to get that crap? Only issue with that though, stat wise: that's not PP opp vs. PK situations, that's based in minutes. So, if your team has a good PK and a good PP, that number will be in the negatives. Quicker PP goal cuts down on PP min and full PK increases those minutes. I'll see if I can find the source I used on that penalty post from a few weeks back.

Team Power Plays Per Game: 2013-14 NHL Season

Okay, so here's last year's PP/game stats. Ottawa in the middle of the pack (16th) w/ 3.3 per game.

And here, Kenny, is where you put on that tin foil hat. DEAD LAST in PK/game (meaning they have the most), w/ 3.9 per game. So, a differential of -.6 per game. That adds up quite a bit. 271 PP to 320 PK. Yeah, gonna have to agree it's shady that the Sens are the most penalized team in the NHL. I know there are some rough guys on the roster, but they don't play that kind of game.

EDIT: FWIW this year they're in the black (232 PP v 226 PK)

Only way to solve this is shorten the season. These guys are gassed. 58 game schedule, one home, one away against the rest of the teams. And go back to one ref and two linesmen. And short glass on the half boards. And three dollar beers.
