i believe players get paid right until july 1 for their regular season no? if that is the case then I would like to buy out the remaining 2 weeks of Demitras contract so he can never return for the canucks.

I don't think so matt, player's cheques end when the regular season ends. The playoffs are the cash cow for the owners mainly due to the fact that they're done paying the players.

Damn Cheech, will getting thrown under a bus by your own agent light a fire under your ass? If so, dial 1-800-redwings. BUT, only if you plan on cashing in 56 times next season.

The Cheechoo train will be bought out most likely, unless Melnyk wants to pay him 3.5 to play in the minors next year.

Gotta expect Redden and/or Roszival to be bought out.

Redden would be one expensive buy out though; $2M per for the next 6 years. Yikes!!

Kotalik should indeed be gone from the Flames, Dash. For the life of me I just can't figure out, to this day, why Sutter didn't just hold on to Jokinen's expiring contract. Pure madness. It's not like he couldn't have gotten Higgins at the draft for pretty cheap.

Finger getting the axe in T.O. wouldn't shock me either.

Are buy-outs reflecting the sense of urgency amongst Canadian teams? Players were just overpaid to begin with? Or just a coincidence?

The initial story is from TSN, which tends to focus on the CDN teams.
Laraque was a foregone conclusion from late last season (He was asked to stay away from the team, or something), but I don't think the CDN teams should actually have a higher proportion of buyouts.

Cool. I had checked around for some more stories, and that makes total sense. Probably just too much Hoopin' and Racin' going on 'round her in Yankeeville at the moment...:D

Darm, I am going to miss BGL. He brought so much to the team. He kept other teams in line because they knew that if anyone messed with the Habs skilled players then the other teams enforcer would have to deal with BGL. Well if BGL and the other enforcer felt like it.
