Good Stuff Eloco.
The only thing I disagree with is that I believe I win with a Van/Phi finals.
I also switched Chara with Edler so not sure if you saw that.
I would only lose 1 winger (OV), 1 D (Boyle) and 1 goalie (Thomas) if it comes down to those teams.
I would have both Sedins, Kesler, Briere, Giroux, Ehrhoff, Edler and Luongo

Hmmm....

Yes, you are totally right. You have a one forward and two D-man advantage in that final. My bad. These were quick judgments. Wanted to give people a quick idea where they stood, who they were up against, and who they need to excel, but it looks like I just made a goof here.

I would also like to point out that while a Bolts/Nucks final would benefit me, I built my team around Bruins/Nucks, so I think that matchup would also get me enough differences to leapfrog most of the others above/near me. Especially if the Bolts and Bruins both win their 2nd round series.

It's possible. I didn't explore every scenario, just quick ones.

Trouble is Ducky does better than you in the Finals with more Bruins/Canucks players than you have. Sly is also trouble for you in that scenario, and both of them are ahead of you right now. So while I understand what you are saying, St. Louis and Stamkos are guys that NOBODY in front of you has right now. If you get a Bolts/Bruins conference final and a Canucks' trip to the SCF, you are probably a lock to win it all. But with several guys in front of you having Bruins and most of them having Canucks (6 of the top 10 have Thomas/Luongo as their goalies at present), the edge for you is really with the Bolts. The only other people that picked Stamkos & St. Louis are behind you and several players down (while you remain perfect) going in to round two, so I think Tampa Bay is your trump card.

Just for the record, there was a meeting of the rules and competition committee a couple of days ago and these ideas were brought up for next year's consideration:

Negative points for minuses, face offs lost, giveaways and goals against
Additional scoring categories for game tying goals, game winning overtime goals, and Ovechtricks

there was?

oh wait, i guess there was. i believe some of these were my selections!

Great analysis Eloco. Good way to size it up and give people a great idea of where they stand and what it would take for them to move from their current positions.

By the end of round 2, we'll really have some clear cut contenders vs pretenders

Thanks, Ducky. Hope I wasn't stepping on anyone's toes or stealing any thunder. I was just curious about who wins given what happening and had a little time today. I thought it was interesting that some people in the top 10 are pretty much out of it and a few at the very bottom still have a chance to win.

Of all the contests we have on here, I really like this one the best. Thanks ducky and esls!

You definitely have looked at one or two more moves ahead than I have (I'm a horrible chess player lol), but I would venture to say unscientifically, at the position I'm in now, even if the Bolts don't make it out of this round, Stamkos and St. Louis may be able to get me enough points to get me into position where my Bruins and Nucks players are enough to keep me on top. Except maybe for Postmaster, I'll need the Flyers to take an early exit.
