I am?
It's that time of year again, and to my surprise, one of my adopted teams may make the playoffs. Gives me slightly less time to devote to this pool for a few weeks. This will be the 4th year running this and I'm not sure who the past winners are, but whoever you are, a belated congrats. As usual, we'll try to get updates on daily basis, but no promises.
Not much has changed up, not sure about the prizes this year. I know Dash offered up a fruit basket for his pool last year, and that may be tough to top. Let's just say the prize for winning is TBD. Anyways, on with the rules and setup of the pool.
All entries need to be posted to this thread by the puck drop of the first game (not sure when that is yet, but lets say 6pm EST on 4/13)
Rosters: Pick 3 C, 3 W (any combo of RW or LW), 3 D, and 2 G. Please don't try to bend the rules and pick a center that also may have wing eligibility in your fantasy league. Centers are centers and wingers are wingers - if there is some doubt, ask me, I'll make an executive decision.
Ok, on to the rules. All players will accumulate points. Only positive points again, so no negative points even if somebody on your roster wins the asshat of the game award. Here's the categories:
Goal 3 points
Assist 2 points
Game Winning Goal 3 points
In addition to these, bonus points apply to:
Power play goal or assist 1 bonus point
Shorthanded goal or assist 2 bonus points
Hat trick 5 bonus points
Shot on Goal 0.25 points
Faceoff Won 0.10 point
Hit 0.25 points
Shot Blocked 0.25 points
Takeaway 0.75 points
PIM's 0.10 points
+/- 0.50 points (only for pluses, this is a game total, not an individual on ice total - therefore, a player on the ice for 4 pluses and two minuses in a game would get one point and not 2 - make sense? )
Goalies can accumulate any of the above points as well
Goalie stats
Shot faced 0.10 points
Save 0.10 points
Win 5 points
Shootout Win - take off, eh
Shutout 8 points
Tiebreakers
If teams are tied with the exact same rosters, they stay tied. Nothing to do to stop this from happening. Please try to choose an unique roster. If teams are tied with different rosters, the tie break is as follows:
1. Conn Smythe winner on roster
2. Game Winning Goals accumulated
3. Shutouts accumulated
4. best plus/minus overall
5. least PIM's
Best of luck to all participants and bring back McGeough!
