I've only been to four, I'd rank them as follows:

1a - Columbus - good neighborhood feel, had a great atmosphere and easy to navigate
1b - Capitals - Chinatown is great, still has a real organ player
2 - Philly - nice arena, nothing special in the neighborhood or inside
7 - Phoenix - weird upper deck behind one goal is offputting, so were the coyote howls from the announcer

Also went to Heinz Field, but you might wait a long time at the gate until another hockey game arrives there. ;)

I think baseball stadiums are cool to visit and see different ones. I don't think I'd bother for any other sport though aside from seeing my team on the road.

Reunion Arena was a blast in the mid-to-late 90's during that run with the Stars. The AAC isn't nearly as much fun although I've only sat in the nose bleeds.

Perhaps instead of making comments about boobs in NashVegas, I should share my experiences.

I have been to both the old and new arenas in the following places:
Washington DC
Philly
Boston
Chicago
Detroit
Pittsburgh
Hershey, PA

In all those places, the atmosphere in the old places is infinitely better, but that is all that is better. The new Arenas are so much easier to navigate, have much better facilities, etc. But still, it's hard to compare the Spectrum or Boston Gardens to anything today. Was just so much better as a fan. New arenas are designed to be entertainment destinations. The old ones were places to sit and watch hockey.

Old Hershey Park arena is my favorite arena of all time.

I have also been to:
Lumbus
Nashville
Anaheim
Ottawa

Also:
This is where my son gets to practice 3 times a week and play half his games:

That's a fantastic barn.

Toronto's got some bloody brilliant old local arenas. None of them beat Oakville Arena for me though I am admittedly biased having played there as a young'n:

Is it always ice in there during the winter?

I wish OSU would have made their new hockey arena about 8-10k capacity, and made it men and women instead of women only.

There is always ice between October and March, but it's 100% hockey. No public skates or anything.

OSU tried to shoehorn the Jackets into weekday only games at the Schott, and nearly cost us a team until Nationwide said they'd build an arena primarily for the Jackets. I don't understand why they needed to build a new arena at all. They already have 3 places that can have a rink with capacities of 18k, 13k and 2k already. All they had to do was retrofit St John Arena and they could make it a hockey only building right next door to the practice rink.

I have also been to Key Arena which is currently being renovated to be the home of the Seattle Baristas NHL team. I saw a WNBA game there (yes, I have attended a live WNBA game)

I've been to MSG back when I was a teenager and both the old and new Boston Gardens.

But, I played hockey for over 50 years, so I've been in lots of rinks. Big or small, they always make me feel like a player about to take the ice.

I remember a charity game in Portland, Maine. After the game, we were hanging out outside the rink with my daughter. Ray Borque and his two sons, who had played in the game, came out of the rink carrying their equipment, walked to their car and drove off, just like any of us guys who just go out one night a week to play pickup hockey.

Speaking of old barns nothing beat the War Memorial in Johnstown seeing the Chiefs play.

I’ve only been to Rogers Arena (then GM Place) twice. Compared to the Spokane Arena, it’s amazing.

I've only been to 3 (for Hockey), and 2 of them are gone!

@ Meadowlands for Avalanche @ Devils
@ Reunion Arena for Coyotes @ Stars
@ Nationwide Arena for four Blue Jackets Games vs. Rangers, Red Wings, Senators and Blues

Others:

@ BJCC for multiple Birmingham Bulls Games in the old WHA! First Professional Hockey Game was Quebec Nordiques @ Birmingham Bulls in 1977!

@ US Bank Arena for two Cincinnati Cyclones ECHL Games
@ Wells Fargo Arena for two Iowa Wild AHL Games

So, based on my experience, I would say visit Nationwide Arena in Columbus! lol

Heading to St. Paul to see the Wild next month, so I am looking forward to that. Bummer that most of the old great NHL Arenas have been replaced.
