Maybe John Harbaugh should learn the rule book.

Following Baltimore's 35-31 playoff loss to the Patriots on Saturday, the Ravens coach accused New England of using an "illegal type" of formation during the third quarter. It turns the formations weren't illegal at all.

In an email to the Baltimore Sun on Sunday, NFL vice president of football communications Michael Signora said everything the Patriots did was within the rule book.

"Everything was legal from a formation and reporting standpoint," Signora wrote.

Harbaugh had said that one of his problems was that his defense wasn't given enough time to figure out who the eligible and ineligible players were after New England's players reported into the game.
"We wanted an opportunity to be able to identify who the eligible players were," Harbaugh said. "Because what they were doing was they would announce the eligible player and Tom (Brady) would take it to the line right away and snap the ball before (we) even figured out who was lined up where. And that was the deception part of it. It was clearly deception."

There apparently is a growing list of losers who want to change the rules after a loss to the Patriots.....

Odd isn't it? The Chiefs weren't lined up crying about the Patriots' OT win against the Falcons in the Super Bowl. If they had won the toss and scored a TD would they be bitchin' about hoiw"unfair" the NFL OT Rules are? No they'd be bitching about something else after losing the Super Bowl to the Rams. Reid is a loser, plain and simple. He's choked the chicken on numerous occassions and his weakness is apparent. He cannot adjust in the middle of a game. He needs time to analyze the situation and discuss it with his staff. In the middle of a game? Forget it. If his system isn't working, he doesn't have a fall back.

Simple question......If Mahomes had gotten an opportunity to QB the Chirfsin OT, Can anyone guarantee with 100% certainty that he could have lead the Chiefs to a TD? A FG? A first down?? The defense couldn't stop the Patriots and were literally gassed. How many times would Veach like the Chiefs to have an opportunity in OT if they couldn't score.

How about this? What if the Chiefs had won the toss and couldn't move the ball and punted and the patriotsmoved the ball and kicked a 50 yard FG? Would they wanted a chance to get the ball back for a second time so they'd have another chance to win??

The only reason that anyone wants the rule chgangedis because the patriots have been able to take advantage of the rule bu scoring touchdowns. How come no one has bitched about OT for the past 10 years when playing during the regular season?? Oh yeah, it wasn't that Patriots who won the game.......

The real flaw is the perception the Cheifs didn't get a chance. First of all, they had a whole hour of football to win in regulation. Second, they had a legit chance to stop the Patriots, then score a touchdown. Third, if they do get the ball agin and score, the Patriots have another chance...

I stand on this point most.... Win the game in an hour or accept whatever happens after.

The media has embarrassed the Cheifs about this on several occassions since this came out. Seems that many of the regular NFL media have asked the same question. "Would you be asking for this rule change had the Cheifs won the coin toss and scored a TD on the first possession?" Veach actually has said, "I don't want to go there."

Several teams want to see it changed but they can't agree on how it should be changed. To get 26 owners to agree to a change that three or four can't agree on might be a real problem. Like Pete Carroll said, "If you're the losing team, you always want to change something to make yourself feel better. Until your change comes back and bites you in the ass."

True, but the story line there was all about the choke.

Also, the sports media had been anointing Mahomes the 2nd coming of Christ all season long and wanted to will him to a Super Bowl victory and into the Hall of Fame. But instead they got the dream crushers.
