do away with ties in American football.
just like another primarily american past time (baseball)
no ties allowed.

if it's still a tie after OT, then have a field goal kicking competition until one of them misses.

Just adopt the NCAA overtime rules. Just change the spot of the ball from the 25 to the 50 or something.

Surprise, surprise!

Uncle Marv gave Nugent his weekly vote of confidence. No changes will be made at the kicker position.

And that my friends is Bengals football in a nutshell. Losing is acceptable. Changes made in order to win will never be made.

I seriously don't know how the players don't just outright revolt on this coaching staff. They have no interest in winning games. Nugent has no business being on this football team.

It's pretty obvious what Marvin is doing..... He's just lining up his scapegoats for the offseason. Nugget is a free agent, so it won't cost us a dime for Marvin to throw him under the bus. The Bengals plan for next season will be to stay the course..... They will blame their lousy performance on 1) Nugent, 2) new coaches on D, 3) young right tackle, 4) inexperience of new receivers in the system.

They will keep Lewis, sign and new kicker and then sell everyone on how they will magically be better.

No question that's what's happening. Im sure Mike Brown will eat it up like the shill that he is because then he won't have to spend any money to make any changes. Marvin will go into next season in the last year of his contract, go 7-9, and likely get a contract extension. We all know it's coming.

My worthless retort to the flawed organizational logic would be this: who had a hand in hiring the assistant coaches? Drafting the awful right tackle? Signing and drafting the WRs? Signing and then refusing to move on from the garbage kicker?

Marvin Lewis deserves most of the blame for all of these failings. The rest of the world can see that. The Bengals either don't, or refuse to acknowledge it. Thus here we are.

The schedule will be much easier next year. We'll end up sneaking into the playoffs at 9-7 for a one and done...... Marvin will be carrying a shovel and talking about how we had a 5 game improvement in the win column in 2017. He'll get his extension.

The scuttlebutt is that Marvin is coaching long enough to get his son a foothold in the game. Apparently he's on his staff.
