My guess is that JJ planted a story so that other teams will start snooping and maybe give him a call about Micah's availability. All of this talking stuff is BS because the league forbids it. If it was true, Goodell would have to call out both teams and investigate the rule violation. I just put something to that effect in another thread after looking up the actual rules about "Talking".
So if JJ did that why wouldn't that be some form of tampering? The NFL is so shitty about rules.

The NFL announced that the salary cap has increased by $22M for 2025. Suddenly, 16 teams have $40M+ to spend in free agency or resign their own players.

The NFL Players Union said that they will demand that all contracts meet the same requirement of the other three professional sports. Yep, NFL contracts will be guaranteed because the NFL cap is fake. The example is that a 30 year old player gets a five year $120M contract. $40M guaranteed. That appears to be $25M a year but it isn't. The player gets $40M up front with the guarantee like a bonus. So you'd think that he'd be getting $80M over the next five, or $16M per. But wait, He has a scaled contract where he's getting $15M for the first two and $17M for the three and since the contract is not guaranteed, he might be cut in year three and the team is taking a $25M a year cap hit. You know, that "Dead Cap". The league has not been holding certain teams to th cap or penalizing them for overspending so the union is telling the players that it's time to collect those contracts in full.

Guess what? Players are being told by the union not to play for the "Franchise Tag" amounts but to negotiate for the smae increase that the cap went up in 2025. or 9%. And to get the contract guaranteed for the entire length.

Looks like all those free agents are going to be approached by their teams if they can ply with the cap enough to convince them that they will be paid through the entire contract.

The kids don't give a shit. It's the veterans that are the ones who are bitchin'. They're the ones who are paying the freight.
This has been coming for a long time. You won't see anymore of the half billion contracts like Mahomes got that can be rewritten every year and stretch out to 2035. It'll also force players to honor contracts and sit out until they get a new one because they signed for a big number three years ago that isn't so big today. What goes around, comes around.

Players will still sit out and there in lies the problem. This is a slippery slope because neither side has ever truly honored their contractual obligations. I can easily see players faking injury if the feel slighted. If this goes forward I can easily see a strike year in the making.

I love that we, as old men, refer to these grown ass monsters as kids. I do it all they time then tell myself, "Hey you're 62 to you they are kids"
Well, I turned 75 last Saturday and most of these kid's parent are kids to me. My oldest "kid" is 50 and my oldest grandson is 23 and my oldest great grand child is 3. Sucks to be me.
