and of course the Koreans despise the Japanese for the occupation years. they don't have much respect for China eitherLOL. and don't get me started on North Korea and what happened at that time with the DMZ

some very big differences between these 2 societies for sure.

Most people will get vaccinated. Here and in Japan but the difference is how they treat people and how we do
I mis-read this.

depends on what your definition of 'most' is.

the vaccination rates between the US and Japan are not in the same ball park.

If Japan has a football team is its name the Dragons. I want to know if that is out of the running for the (insert name here) .... asking for a friend.
Nah, that’d be the Chinese, you American... we ain’t all the same ya know... (heavy sarcasm here) lol

But yes, dragons is better than anything - My Chinese friend advises me - that might be coming down the pike

had to look up what dou itashimashite meant ;)

mai pen lai (rei) is the Thai equivalent to you're welcome - it translates roughly as 'never mind' akin to 'no bother' or 'no worries' contextually

I love that word because its so useful in so many different contexts and usages in Thailand. much broader than just you're welcome.

language is so interesting and amazing when you consider the nuances that can only be acquired thru experience and context. its also why we so often get it wrong/mixed up when communicating with peeps of other lands!

what a well traveled bunch on this board. Fascinating!

they dont force or coerce people to do things . they respect others opinions and let people live their lives they respect individual freedoms and dont ostracize groups of people who decide for themselves what risks they want to take . they dont have vaccine passports or different standards to force compliance . but somewhere in all this the NFL has forgotten this
You oversimplify or completely miss the point here, as per usual.

When nuance is required, simply put, there are plenty in this country that can't (not won't, but can't) think in subtle terms.

"thinking for yourselves" doesn't mean ignoring research, facts, or statistics either.

Sometimes in life there is, in fact, only one truth.

I guess it is all in how you look at things. I didn't see it as a big deal. Would have been different if the guy didn't have a helmet on.
