ESPN has ILB Preston Brown #4 and has Max Bullough #5 both available to us.
I would not go WR. (Josh Huff rated #10 WR)
DT Kelcy Quarles is ranked #4 DT
DT Deandre Coleman isn't rated in ESPN's top 10
DT Ego Ferguson is rated #10 DT

My vote is go
1A) ILB Preston Brown
1B) ILB Max Bullough
3) DT Kelcy Quarles
4) DE Demarcus Lawrence
5) OT Seantrel Henderson
6) WR Josh Huff
7) DT Will Sutton
8) OLB Telvin Smith
9) DE Kareem Martin
10) DT Ego Ferguson

I don't think Bullough or Preston have proven themselves in coverage. That's my problem with both of those guys and they are both to slow to keep up with TEs. We need athleticism on our defense.

Ratings go by sources. Every other place I go has Ferguson rated higher than Quarles. I can wait on Coleman but he can actually play NT and gets pressure.

Lawrence is an OLB in a 3-4. Not a DE.

I'd rather the #10 WR over the #4 ILB if the WR is a better player. Some years, there are weaknesses at positions in a draft.

ILB Lamin Barrow?

Lamin Barrow, ILB/OLB, LSU
Height: 6-1. Weight: 229.
Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
Projected Round (2014): 3-5.
2/8/14: Barrow totaled 91 tackles with 4.5 tackles for a loss and two passes defended in 2013. He wasn't impressive against Alabama, but played better against Texas A&M and Iowa. Barrow didn't get a lot of acclaim, but he played well at the Senior Bowl and was impressive in practice.

8/14/13: While players like Barkevious Mingo, Eric Reid and Kevin Minter received the most attention last year, Barrow had an impressive season in his own right. The junior totaled 104 tackles with 7.5 tackles for a loss, five passes broken up and one forced fumble. He was a backup to Ryan Baker in 2011 and only made 17 tackles for the season.

Barrow is a tough run-defender and could be better in 2013 with his year of experience. He needs to show the ability to be good linebacker in pass coverage. Barrow also needs to add weight to be a middle linebacker in the NFL, otherwise he should move to the outside.

I think most people will see those rankings but not dig deeper. I think Barrow may have benefitted by the players around him but look at Jordan Zumwalt or better yet James Morris. He had 18 TFL so the instincts are there and he can find his way through OL. He broke up 3 passes and had 4 INTs and forced 2 fumbles. This guy is a play maker to me and I think we can get him in the 6th at this rate.

My top player is Kelcy Quarles because of the pressure he gets but I wonder if we can't get him next round. Maybe I'm being a little greedy there. Most places I have seen has Ego Ferguson ranked over him because of his athleticism but his numbers don't support the so-called athleticism.

I just don't like any of the ILBs that are ranked coming up and that's the same with CB/S.

I'd look at Josh Huff or Cameron Fleming as possibilities.

I'd rather get guys that can play in this league over guys we play for a year or two and find replacements later because they lack athleticism.

I don't pay for ESPN anymore. I have WALTER.

That's my dilemma though. If Quarles is that low, he should be there later. I like Quarles more but wonder how much he benefitted by playing beside Clowney. That's why I'd consider going OT or WR instead of DE in this round. Just better value overall.

Redskins GM Gkekoa selects in the 4th RD: DT Kelcy Quarles from Gamecocks.
SouthCarolina_logo.gif
Kelcy Quarles*, DT, South Carolina
Height: 6-4. Weight: 298.
Projected 40 Time: 5.05.
Projected Round (2014): 3-4.

2/8/14: Quarles had a solid season for South Carolina. He recorded 39 tackles with 13.5 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks. The junior notched sacks in seven different games in 2013. As a run-defender, Quarles needs work. Wisconsin had a lot of success running at him in the bowl game. For the NFL, Quarles looks like a situational pass-rusher.

8/10/13: Quarles has a solid sophomore season last year, totaling 38 tackles, eight tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. He totaled 28 tackles in 2011.

Quarles seems capable of producing more after gaining more experience and strength. He could produce a big season in 2013 with all the attention Jadeveon Clowney draws.

I will post Walter Footballs and ESPN's top remaining players but need to know the top 5 positions that we want us to draft next so I don't have to research every position especially if we wont be considering it.

My top 5 positions:
1) ILB
2) DE
3) CB
4) FS
5) MLB

Don't worry about WALTER because I look at those.

The only position I will not draft unless the value is insane is RB and QB. I have every other position in a search tab.

What are your top 5 positions? Not many players left in Espn's top 10.

The only thing I don't like about that kind of ranking is it doesn't look at how good the crop of players is at the position comparatively to other positions. This WR corps is deep and talented. There will be a lot of contributors to NFL teams in this draft. I think this is a very weak draft when it comes to TE. I don't expect much out of them. So I'd rather the tenth best WR over the fifth best TE.

So your saying you rather have the 10th best WR Huff compared to the #4 ILB Preston Brown or #5 Max Bullough?

Since we already addressed WR with our first pick, I rather go with a glaring hole at ILB then a added WR. Just my thoughts.

gkekoa - I must say I like what you've done so far. Benjamin was an excellent pick-up considering we don't have a 1st rounder.

I know nothing of Quarles but if he notched 9.5 sacks last year, he must have potential in our scheme.
as your war room brethren...I think Ritz has a good point..I'm really curious to see how you address ILB/OT or are you simply relying on FA to handle these holes?

Gkekoa stated to me that he didn't see good value in the 4th round for LB's so there is a good chance we will draft one in 5th.

In this case, I do prefer the tenth ranked WR in Huff over the fifth best ILB on Burrough.

Huff is a second or third round talent and Burrough is a fifth round talent. I also like lower ranked ILBs over Burrough because they have actually had to cover.

We also have a need at WR even after Benjamin because we have no slot WR.

I personally believe ILB is the biggest need on this team but think this is one of the weakest classes I have seen at the position.

Simply, I would rather take a guy I see as a long term player over a guy that can maybe play this season and keep us looking for his replacement in the next draft.
