It's amazing how fast this pitching staff has made us forget about Robbie Ray... So where does Ray fit in moving forward? LOL... He signed a 5 year contract w/ us...
  1. Castillo
  2. Kirby
  3. Gilbert
  4. Woo
  5. Miller
  6. Hancock
That's one helluva starting staff... And then you have Robbie Ray...

Well in my opinion only the top 3 pitchers are locked in. Woo and Miller have showed quality starts but they have also shown they can get destroyed for 5+ runs in the first 2 or 3 innings. Naturally Hancock only had 1 starts but we will see how they finish the season but I have a feeling that if Ray is available at the beginning of next season it shouldn't be that difficult for him to get into the rotation.

I mainly stated this due to his play at the end of the season in 2022.. He was just ok... Nothing special... He was never able to get past the 6 inning in his last 7 starts of 2022 season... He was horrible in his 1st outing this season... But yes, do to his contract, he will probably be inserted back into the lineup... I can see us dealing either Woo or Miller in the offseason while looking for another bat...

I 100% agree I noticed before the injury that he playing pretty pedestrian. I am more concerned about that and now it compounds with the injury we will have to really evaluate him again because I am starting to think that Cy Young year was a fluke.

That change up he has is nasty... Once he learns how to hide it a bit better, it will be his knockout pitch...

Agree it is MLB above average

You can watch his delivery and mannerisms when he throws it on a 2 strike count ( because he is thinking: A. the batter will surely swing and miss or B. it may be a called 3rd strike as most were just a few inches below the strike zone ) Perfect location for a changeup.
Most of his changeup movement is straight down with just a bit of run on it ( away from a LH batter ). But it is still a good pitch and adds to a good arsenal.

At this point best case scenario is:

A. we dump him if we find a taker and do not have to eat too much of his contract
B. he returns and has a few solid outings and then we dump him

I am not a Robbie Ray fan or a believer in his pitching skill set.

And yes his Cy Young season was a 1 hit wonder of a fluke

It would be hard to trade him. In my opinion trades these days are hard to make and anytime you are dealing with a player that is making a lot of money or is close to free agency set to make a lot of money the majority of teams stay away from them like the plague. we would have to give up prospects if we asked a team to eat up the remainder his contract.

Oh I know how hard it would be to dump him

That is why I listed it as 'best case scenario'

My hunch is we are stuck with him moving forward for remainder of his contract ( $20 something mil per season I think )

Why that trade..San diego.moveing on..
Seattle helps in 1st phase.

Seattle will take cronanworth..left .1b.utility.
And maybe carpenter as well..dh..

It's not so easy.to get..a cronanworth..
To go with..a France..and if rojas.does.
Not work .I would expect something like this..

Where does San Diego .go...
Cristian..walker .
Or free agent..

I agree...with Stanton..
I don't want otahni..cuz .as soon as you lose
Him .
You lose 2 guys.a pitcher..and a DH .
Just why..complicate..it..
Mariners can win.
With .Snell..he's better than otahni.anyway.

Well his era. Says he is..

It's crazy to think we're just a few years removed from Marco being our "ace."
