NJ Devils: Sweden West
The Devils did what the needed to do against two bottom of the conference co-tenants, but if this season is going to turn around, they can't wait any longer. We're rapidly creeping up on the 1/4 pole of the season, and the time is now.
We play 7 games in the next 13 days, let's take a look.
What needs to happen:
Boston: OT
Toronto: W
St. Louis: OT
Caps: L
Calgary: W
Islanders: W
Flyers: L
If the Devils can win one of those OT games, then we cruise out of this 7 game stretch with a 4-2-1 record.
Boston:
This is a team whose offense has been almsot as anemic as the Devils, but have an airtight defense. They embarrassed the Devils early in the season, so the Devs need to bounce back in a strong way. They can't have as many line change breakdowns as they did against Edmonton.
Toronto:
This is a must win game. The Leafs appear unwilling to play solid defense, and the whole offense is cold atm. 2 PTS A MUST. 8 game slide.
St. Louis:
The big mystery team. Halak has been amazing with 4 shutouts on the season so far. However, the St. Louis offense hasn't been to good this year. Blues haven't lost in regulation at home this year.
Washintgon:
They dismantles the Devils earlier in the year, but the Devils were able to match them in the first period of that game. Caps have offense coming from every position on every line, so the Devils need to commit to D and catch the Caps when the make frustration induced mistakes.
Calgary:
Another team that looks lost. Their offense isn't bad, but the defense is mediocre at best in terms of GA.
NY Islanders:
Just fired their coach. A definite trap game. We need two points from this match.
Flyers:
The final game in this stretch. A win is going to be very tough. Luckily the game isn't in Philly. We have a bad history against this team, and it could be a statement for the Devils if they win it.
