X-rays came back and no brakes. Mooch from NFLN just said this
They should error on the side of caution and keep him out at least two games.Garapollo has a sprained AC joint. He will be swollen tomorrow and in extreme pain. He won't be able to reach into the cupboard with his right hand to grab the Wheaties. They probably shot it full of cortisone to keep the swelling down to a minimum and injected pain relief.
JG will NOT play Thursday night against the Texans. He does plan to play Week 4 against the Bills
All of the network medical experts are chiming in. You gotta love it. There are erections all over the country because the Patriots are now down to their third string QB.
Anyway. now LaCanfora is saying JG will be out at least 6 weeks. Some "Injury Analyst" for CBS says he will be out 4-6 weeks. Mike Reiss of ESPN is reporting that it's a day to day thing and he will not play Thursday night against the Texans.
I think everyone needs to zip their flies and wait to hear from the Patriots directly or from the MD who actually looked at the film and JG himself. Making a guess based on TV 3000 miles away is pretty stupid.
Well not sure the Patriots have been known for being forthcoming when it comes to injuries. So not sure I would be trusting of them either.
At this point it all depends on the grade of the injury. Grade 1,2, or 3 means he won't need surgery but we are talking 2-3 weeks worth of him being in pain. So while he is probably out for the upcoming game against the Texans if he plays against the Bills I can promise you he will be in a lot of pain. And the issue with trying to pump him full of meds is that 1) won't know if he hurts the shoulder more and 2) will have trouble controlling his arm. He will also see a decrease in velocity with this injury for a few weeks. Grades any higher than a 3 usually require surgery but from the sound of things it doesn't sound that high.
I will say the Patriots have to be careful with this. These are the type of injuries that can lead to problems down the road for a QB. Not letting it heal properly now puts a lot of strain on the rest of the shoulder and on that joint moving forward.
This sprain will require 3 weeks in a sling. He will feel better in a week but anything less than 3 weeks means long term problems or surgery. I don't want to see him against Houston or Buffalo.....
