New Realignment Plan - 2nd idea more in line with NHL's current plans

Ok so after reading up more on what the NHL is looking at and gary bettman's plan i belive this could work and should be the idea.

First "eliminate the conferances all together"

4 Divisions. Top four from each division get in...but there are no divisions. Playoff seading is determined simply by record on who u play and where played for first round and there after.

Divisions should look like this

North Division
Sabers
Red Wings
Blue Jackets
Blackhawks
Toronto
Ottawa
Montreal
Jets

East Division
Bruins
Capitals
Flyers
Penguins
Islanders
Devils
Rangers


South Division
Panthers
Lightning
Stars
Hurricanes
Predators
Coyotes
Blues

West Division
Kings
Sharks
Canucks
Ducks
Coyotes
Aves
Oilers
Flames

This is how the divisions should be broken up. 4 top teams in each division get into playoffs. There is no "conference" breakdown per say.

Playoff Slotting is determined simply by best overall record with tie breakers being h2h first and then goals against and if still tied goals for.

"Everything should be as simple as possible, but not simpler." Moving just two teams is the way to go, at least for now. If Phoenix, the Islanders, and Florida get moved, further realignment may be necessary, but until then, just keep it simple.
