New Jersey F1 GP back on for '14?

Don't know how many of you saw the Montreal qualy broadcast, but NBCSN spoke to the guy who's supposedly in charge of making it happen, & he says that it will.

Here's a local NJ article that, at the least, supports his claim that he's trying:

Hopefully it gets done too. I had to chuckle a bit though, at the one they were talking to was comparing it to Spa. He might have meant it in terms of straights and elevation changes but we usually get about 5 overtakes all race during F1 street races. Should be some great views though, and is it supposed to be a night race too?

I had not heard that previously: That would certainly be interesting if true.

I had a very busy day yesterday, so I taped the race in order to watch it today: Now you've ruined it for me.

I was expecting a comment on the proposed NJ F1 GP when I opened this thread.

Man; this thing has become quite the mess, hasn't it?

I remember when nearly all of the journalists - & fans (myself included) - would say that NJ would be the one that would happen & TX wouldn't.

You would think that F1 is big enough that they would have these things properly anticipated and figured out before announcing and promoting the event. I read elsewhere that New Jersey hasn't raised the necessary $100 for event planning. I wonder how much of that Bernie gets a cut of.

The prospective 2014 F1 schedule is out - and New Jersey isn't on it.

Maybe 21 GPs in 2014

Mexico City, Sochi & Korea (not sure if Mokpo is the same track as Yeongam or not) are not currently 'locked in', so there may be a few as 18 races.

The race is back on......again.....for now.

It's now listed on the "provisional" calendar, which has 22 races. But there is supposedly an agreement not to go beyond 20 races, so 2 might get cut. But maybe there will be a race in NJ after all...
