Good idea doing that. We get a dollar to dollar match up to 6%. It really is like throwing money away not using something like that because even if there is a downturn the match helps to overcome it. As long as you are not working for someone like Enron or whoever that was.
Man that was a nightmare!

They will likely push the retirement age back to near 70. You know the ironic thing they never though of? People live longer, so they draw on SS and Medicare a lot longer than they ever thought possible. It's good that people live longer, but they take a lot more out when they do.

As they should. Social security was never intended to be a retirement plan.

There's no question imo. That's why I'm saving for retirement starting now.
My dad' generation all felt the same way. They got their's, I got mine and you will too. But, saving is never a bad decision.

You are right because at one point I would have gotten my SS earlier than 66 and 1 month. You know they sit there and tweak the numbers and say if we move it 1 month it could save us X millions of dollars.

Heh...sorry my comment to him led to a tangent that I could talk about all damn day. We obviously agree on that and a lot more of the like when it comes the government and financials.

I plan on using as a supplemental income. I could opt for it now but I would be losing money and if I make too much which I would then I get none of it. So I am waiting on the full amount and it does not matter how much you make at that point. Plus my wife is 6 years younger so I tell people she is my retirement plan. :)

Hey, I don't blame people his age for feeling that way. They just came through the depression and then were told they had to give up some money they worked hard to get. I bet they were quite suspicious of that one.

The Astros pitching has really been getting knocked around this year. Good to see.

Banister the SportsHoopla gang has enjoyed a nice day just shooting the breeze. Tell the boys not to screw it up.

Nightcrawler = 26
Romeo= 29. ( I thought he fit the angry old man role on this board, but he's not old enough for that)
Wastin = 62 and can't wait for Medicare eligibility
Saddles = 53

Whose next? I'd guess DT to be 79

We have not seen Will chime in yet, but I don't recall seeing him on game threads anymore.

Revs guess was just as bad for me as mine was for yours apparently. I didn't intend to insult you. I'm sorry.
Lighten up. You didn't. I'm 74 and handicap'd. Partly from a bitter war and partly from sports. Still feel good at heart and mind and enjoy all you guys for allowing me to be a part of something I love.....Texas Rangers.
