cooper was offered 22 mil per season by us , i see gollowday and robinson getting 12 to 15 mil to come here
robinson is on just such a contract , 3yr 42 mil . 25 mil guaranteed
the local press here in MI predict gollowday to come in at 16to 18 mil based on roberts woods contract
now i am not sure i want to pay out that to either one of those guys . i would simply draft a wr
now the argument will be made that less the cap is the less players can ask for . and i say they are missing ratios
also look into the future , we will have to extend mac next season , we have to resign sherrf or tag him again , payne , allen will be do soon
the question now becomes can we win a superbowl NEXT season ? i dont think so yet
Why do you believe Cooper was offered so much but a year later, comparable WRs will take 7 million less?
Cooper’s actual contract is 5 years/100 million with 60 guaranteed.
Cooper’s best seasons are comparable to the seasons of Golloday and Robinson. Cooper’s best was 1189 and 8.
Woods’ contract is a 4 year extension worth 65 million, 32 guaranteed.
Woods’ best seasons, 2 of them, are comparable to the best seasons of Cooper, Robinson, and Golloday.
I see 16-18 million per season for Golloday and Robinson. Of course we don’t know the exacts on next season’s cap.
Now, keep in mind, Golloday has played with Stafford, who throws the ball about 600 times each season. That isn’t RR’s game.
Also, these FAs, at 16-18 mil per season are being paid number one money. Like you said, do we want to pay them and then lose TM or Jonathan Allen, Scherff, or Payne?
I am with you. We shouldn’t waste money on these WRs. Kick the tires...fine. But you don’t pay market value. You come in lower and see if they bite. If not, draft a WR. If so, you still should draft a WR if they are best value.
