The 1-3-1 definitely got us back in the game. So credit to Miles for switching over. McVeigh was doing a pretty good job in that zone defense so that is the only reason I can come up with for why he was on the floor that whole time.
Miles is one of those guys you love and then you hate.
Nebraska has all the momentum and when it mattered most he didn’t appear to have a play planned out to score and win the game.
We were in the double bonus and had 19 seconds to set something up going towards the basket and potentially force a foul, and the ball never leaves Watson’s hands and never leaves the perimeter. We instead end up settling for a 3 point shot 10 feet behind the line.
I guess Creighton pretty much beat us with that shot earlier this season so maybe we thought we should try it.
I didn’t listen to the presser afterwards but I’m assuming someone had to ask him about that possession.
Personally I would have had Palmer driving to the basket with the ball. He’s the best we have at doing it, and the best we have at getting to the line and making free throws.
I’ll bet I could have won that game for us if I was there just to set up that one play. Absolutely frustrating.
