Nebraska hasnt won a true road game vs a Top 15 team since 1997

I'm watching Collin Cowherd on ESPN and he was talking about Penn State and how no big name coach is going to want to take over just because of the fact that now days big time coaches can get jobs at schools where the weather is nicer and the area offers more and what not.

Then he said Penn State will become Nebraska.........basically irrelevant. They will win enough games to keep going to bowl games and what not, but they will never return to glory.

It made me mad, but the more I thought about it........the guy has a point as of right now. Nebraska football has meant nothing on a national scale basically since Tom Osborne retired. Even the team Solich had with Crouch wasn't that good.

Notre Dame and Nebraska are alike in that they're rebuilding.

PSU is getting tore the heck down right now and will be much tougher to rebuild.

I might ( might) give you Nebraska as rebuilding even though its been 10 years since your last BCS bowl but ND isnt rebuilding, they are irrelevant and havent been relevant for 17-18 years. I see no shame in saying PSU will become Nebraska because the Huskers have been solid over recent history even if they havent been great. Hell PSU isnt at that much higher of a level than Nebraska right now over the last 10 years ( of course neither of them is at the level of Iowa in that same time frame ) :ss:

I do see the shame in that. This scandal is going to hurt Penn State. A lot. Penn State has done nothing since the 80's. I'm sorry if you're using some unit of measure besides National Championships, but that's how we measure it.

Eh, national championships are awesome but if you only judge your season based on that then you have had a 14 years of misery. PSU ahs gone undefeated ( 12-0 ), gone 11-1 ( 3 times) and finished top 10 in the country 8 times in the last 20 years. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I get your point but I cant imagine only judging my team based on whether they won a title. Seems like a terrible way to be a fan. Of course my team hasnt won a NC in my lifetime so what the hell do I know LOL

You can also measure a team other ways, but since we're talking different programs in separate conferences, titles is it.

I said this spring I'd be happy if Nebraska makes progress. 10 wins would make me happy, but only if I saw improvement in over all execution. (Turnovers and penalties especially) That's happened so far.

Yes, national championships are nice and is what you expect to do. You want fans as well as coaches and players to expect it as well IMO.

one comment on how the huskers were treated back in '02 @ PSU. You know damn well, why and deserved it IMHO. Tell you what, you put yourself in PSU's position in '94 and see how you handle it. If I would've been the coach, I would've bought everyone on the team a ring and declared PSU the NC. and to be fair, if PSU would've been crowned NC, I wouldn't have a problem with the huskers doing the same thing.

I think the team will come out completely destroyed mentally or playing like their pants were on fire and kicking your ass up and down the field. I predict this will be the most watched game of the weekend.
