Read deeper on those head scratchers and you'll probably like those picks too......
We got an all-weather kicker and while there were other good kickers, Borregales can kick in Foxboro and is clutch.
This draft was well thought out. They went in with a plan.
I'm on board with the K. I said in all the pre draft posts I hoped we took one. But, a LS? Granted he has an incredible record of not having a bad snap just seemed odd. Also they didn't take a TE until after round 7. I'm stoked, I didn't mean to come off negative.

We had a chance to get the best long snapper in the draft and staff thought he would get drafted if we didn't take him.
Cardona is getting long in the tooth. Worst case scenario, we have 2 long snappers for training.

We had our eye on the TE and felt he'd be available. We gave him guaranteed money right after the draft.

Yep, no second guessing they seem to know what they're doing. Was nice to see for a change. They didn't get the players I wanted bit they covered all the positions. Everyone knows I was on Jeanty but glad we got Henderson after securing LT.

Solid draft! They addressed positions of need and clearly had a strategy they followed. Very happy with it. Maye will be in much better to showcase his talents. Also picked up more defensive players and the best kicker in the draft.

On paper, I would give them an A.
Season can’t come soon enough to have final roster and see this new team in action.

Interesting discussion on both NFL and ESPN.

"Whoever these draft graders may be, they're idiots." Very quick commercial break.

Same guy....."Look. They don't like a player or a team and they immediately downgrade the pick." He's got the other three's attention. "We've highlighted Treyvon Henderson of Ohio State a number of times last night and the Patriots were given a C for selecting him? At one point he was the best player on the board." Then he finished it with a knife to the kidneys. "Patriots haven't been close to a Super Bowl for six or seven years and there's still an undercurrent of dislike. Belichick and Brady are gone, get over yourselves." (Paraphrased)

Guy at the end of the table. "You might be just a little off. Brady is Mark Davis's right hand man in Las Vegas. He's certainly not gone."
Bill is not gone either.
He'll be influencing the next generation of players in his current role and I wouldn't be surprised to see him second to Saban when he is done...Unless he comes back to the NFL which is a huge possibility.

Great draft, a couple head scratches but I think that's expected. Minus adding a TE they pretty much addressed all the holes. TE wasn't a hole but will need addressing next season.

Taking a LS and K that early might be considered a reach. They got the #1 K in this draft so I'm good with it. Hopefully he becomes a staple. We know how important having a solid kicker can be. How lucky were we to have Gotskiwsi and Vianteri for so long?

Why the need for a LS? Is Vrabel just cleaning house of all the former players? Obviously they see this kid as a long term fit?

Camp is going to be exciting. Some players are going to have to fight for their jobs. Especially in the WR room.

NE took an UDFA WR. Lots of WR signed to teams as UDFAs. Good luck to them all.

My final grade A.

LFG.
Cardona is getting older. Even LS's take a car accident impact 5-10 times a game. More if the team is bad. One bad snap can be a game loser.

Truthfully, I never appreciated it until my buddies kid became a LS. He was SUPER accurate, but just didn't have the size. 5'11 @ 225 in college.
He did say we got a great LS. He went to a few camps with Julian Ashby and said he is definitely going to be a great player.
Rumor has it that there were a few teams looking to get into a bidding war for him as an UFA, so Vrabel took him. 11 picks can allow for that.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Cardona for his military service.

What no one knows.......................

Since becoming a pro, Cardona, when not active military or active with the Patriots, spends all of his free time working with and guiding severely mentally challenged children. The guy deserves a medal of valor for sacrificing a normal life to help those most critically needing get some help and friendship.

Patriots overall BK Draft Grade for 2025

A-

The minus is for the one guy they selected who won't make the team and be cut after preseason game 2.
