Why would anyone assume ND would lose a game (or 2) after they beat FSU on the road?

Because ASU & USC on the road are extremely tough opponents. Navy will be annoying also. On top of that we still have Louisville & Northwestern at home

Because we're ND and we have a history of stepping on our own dicks after big games (the last really hyped ND-FSU matchup comes to mind). All of the PAC 12 is rooting for us and for ASU and or USC to knock us off. An FSU win all but assures them a spot in playoffs. Their remaining schedule is much easier than ours.

I don't think so. I think if we lose tonight, the final four will be 2 SEC teams, FSU, and either the Big12, Big10, or Pac12 champion (Oregon, Baylor, Oklahoma, Ohio State, or Michigan State). I think the committee stated that they will use conference championships as a criteria. To pass on 3 Power 5 conference champions for a 1 loss ND team seems unlikely to me.

I think there is still a shot if ND loses a close game against FSU but wins out. However, it requires a lot of other teams to screw up and for ND opponents to keep winning games. Need Stanford to beat Oregon, Michigan State to get upset, Texas A&M to beat Alabama, etc.etc. So I am saying there is a chance.

Agree, unless there are more than 2 losses from any of those teams.

If Notre Dame doesn't get in at 11-1 if every other team has 1 L except FSU, the system would be a joke.

To go 11-1 would mean they would have beaten at least 3 top 25 teams and possibly played FSU tight.
