Who cares about coach of the year awards? Guys like Ferentz and Gus have won that award.

You seem to have overlooked that … along with a 12-0 & #3 ranked season.

We'll not mention the Irish's last two bowl appearances and who they defeated, huh? Might that have something to do with your 'observation' of tonite's game?

And that's my biggest knock against him, but he's gotten the Irish back to national relevance - whether you like that or not.

ND is a small, private school. They don't have an enrollment of 30K+ to be able to choose from … let alone set some of the highest academic/graduation standards in the nation.

That's what we have to compete with, but don't let those inconvenient facts get in the way of what's been a pretty damn successful tenure/resume in bringing back a team from mediocrity.

Really? It doesn't matter how big the school is. This isn't high school. ND is a national brand.

Nope … lost our best side of the ball tho and got behind.

Young Book got put under the gun and became erratic against, arguably, the best D in the nation.

The whole complex of the game changed in a matter of minutes when we lost our AA CB, #2 tackler on team and our best past rusher (only real rusher actually).

We already had a long hill to climb in competing with the likes of a Clemson. I'm not ashamed … we hung with them in the beginning until lightning struck.

Ok … yet they have been able to compete at the highest levels from multiple sports, in spite of the enrollment and cuz of the brand.

We ran into a buzz saw tonite against some tough breaks.

Kelly's accomplishments/resume are what they are … despite all the hate.

I think it may take more than one year. Next year is an easy schedule, but I don't think this team is there yet to claim 10 wins. I hope they do, but I think 8-4 is a solid improvement, 9-3 is very possible, 10-2 is doable, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

His first year at UCF was pretty miserable if I am remembering correct? He had to change a culture, and didn’t they have a ton of issues in the locker room? I feel like Frost’s job was a lot less coaching and a lot more finding those who were going to move forward with those willing to change and cutting out those who weren’t.

Your one of my favorite posters on this board and I felt bad about making that post but Brian Kelly is probably the biggest pos in college football and I mean that with all due respect. Nothing against you or the other solid ND posters on the Hoop, but if anyone deserves a bullet to the forehead its Brian Kelly. May that fvcker burn in hell.
