I never considered them gone either. However, it would be nice to walk through Heritage Hall and see that crystal football back in it's rightful spot.

Don't you have enough of them.??...and fuck you for that.....:suds:

Personally, I really don't care what the NCAA does or does not do to punish other programs. Or about how their punishments stack up against what USC got.

I just like anything that points out the hypocrisy and as Shaver says "keystone cops" way that they conduct their investigations.

I agree with Codaxx, the punishments should be written into the by-laws. There should be minimum and maximum sentences laid out just like our legal system has as well.

The problem is you have to talk about what other schools did and what their punishment was or wasn't to point out the hypocrisy of the NCAA, theres no other way of showing it. So while Oregon fan may whine (while saying we are whining. lol). You can't help but use their situation as a reference

Oregon- paying middle man to lure Texas talent . Head coach complicit
USC- outside people paying player to leave early and sign with them. Head coach should have but didnt know (according to NCAA)

Punishment- Nail the school whos coach didnt know. Slap on the wrist for the school with the head coach who knew.

The problem with the NCAA isn't so much the severity of the punishments, but rather that they punish the wrong people instead of the people who are actually responsible. Which in turn makes the severity of the punishments wrong in general.

The people responsible are rarely the ones punished. They need more show causes and stuff like that, something that punishes the people responsible.

How about instead of a Min and a Max, and written out limits if they just could explain their "rule of thumb". Before the current regime they at least were able to explain their general thought process on penalties. Now its "every case is unique" and "Paul Dee was bought in at Miami to clean up a program with serious problems."

Oh wait the second point wasn't really relevant it just still makes me laugh.

Apparently there have now been e-mails released in which committee members state that they can't find any wrongdoing by McNair.

Their entire case was built on McNair.

So what happens now? Pat Haden in a statement today made it seem that the school would take action. It's baffling the ncaa had a chance to TRY to make it right when the school asked for lesser punishment like penn st had. I assume they never planned on these documents being made public. I'll be waiting for a ncaa response that may never happen

We didn't ask. It was always part of the deal that if we complied with changes in University policy as mentioned by Freeh that the punishment could be lessened. Of course now that we've seen that Freeh and the NCAA were in cahoots and the NCAA is scared shitless of the lawsuits they've just said fuck it and gave us everything back except the fine.

About the only action the school can likely take is to demand that the wins and NC be restored. The bowl games that were missed and the scholarships that were lost are now in the past. It's likely even too late for the NCAA to say that USC can go over the 25 recruits to get to 85 because we will likely be back at 85 by next year anyway.

Oklahoma power fucked the NCAA out of TV money/rights by taking their case to the United States Supreme Court in 1984.

The NCAA didn't like that.

Oklahoma was on major probation within 4 years.

Go Figure.

OU was on major probation long before 1984. Don't kid yourself......Actually, if you look at when OU won a NC, they were put on some kind of sanctions 2-3 years later.

Of course USC fans never bring up that the NCAA found they ran a keystone cops compliance dept or that multiple athletic programs besides football were also involved.

They keep clinging to the McNair thing as their fairy unicorn excuse to claim they were completely innocent and even worse, I hear USC fans claiming the NCAA needs to apologize to them. Give me a break. Talk about living in a Kardashian like fantasy world.

Charles Thompson went to prison because he was a center piece of a drug ring. The guy sold COKE. Not marijuana, or ludes, or uppers. The guy was selling COKE.

Major probation? NCAA didn't like that? 4 years?

Shit. OU should have been handed the death penalty.

Your starting QB was a drug king pin. End of story.

OU had some out of control players in the 80s.

A r*pe, gun charge, coke dealing.

Despite all that thuggery, it had nothing to do with cheating on the football field so you guys can eat a fat dick!

That keystone cops compliance dept was the reason they didn't know that a player whos parents lived two hundred miles away got into pact to get him to leave and sign with their proposed agency? I'm sure the NCIS team at Washington would have sniffed that out right? Do they have 24hr surveillance on parents? Understaffed as they were . After five years The NCAA couldn't find more than one football player taking illegal benefits so while they were a small dept they obviously didn't let a lot pass. So they threw in some shadyness with one basketball player which was worse than Bush in my opinion because the coach was involved yet they didn't really care enough to punish the basketball team much. They had something against the football program and needed anything to make things sound worse because they had to justify five years of searching. So they found a tennis player who used a school card to call home. That's one of the "multiple athletic depts" you speak about. Considering the stuff thats come out about Syracuse the stuff at Florida State the stuff at Miami , the cheating at UNC where a multitude of students where involved in each case it's hilarious you want to bring up a tennis player using a school card to call home . Oh wait, you didn't actually describe that violation because you know it would sound pretty stupid so you threw in the general "oh yeah but other athletic depts at USC had violations too". Talk about letting your hate show.

 @you using the findings from a now completely discredited investigation.

At least one committee member was smart enough to realize these e-mails could eventually bit the NCAA in the ass:

As part of a lengthy exchange of emails between infractions committee members about the USC case, Myers questioned whether they should be communicating in writing. "I am concerned about confidentiality both because I do not know the California open records law and because several of us use our institutional email accounts at public institutions," Myers wrote. "Further, it is not clear that everyone is equally comfortable using email in this way and I think it is important for the deliberations to be inclusive."

Then, of course, there are the e-mails in which committee members state that they can't find evidence that he was involved in anything.

In that email chain, infractions committee member Britton Banowsky expressed concern about the case against McNair and wrote, "It is challenging for me to make the finding when there is no allegation that he personally was involved in any rules violations, or even had any specific knowledge of any." Myers responded that she was concerned with charging McNair of lying to the committee and added, "As Britton says, on this record it is hard to find that he was 'involved' in anything."

You're full of shit. USC fans have always acknowledged that USC should have been sanctioned for what the Bush family did and so have USC officials. USC has always maintained, however, that the NCAA conducted an unfair investigation, violated their own rules and that the sanctions were out of line with those given for similar infractions.

No one has ever denied that the compliance department was far too small. However, your deflection doesn't change how the NCAA conducted themselves.
