If the USC investigation was bogus, think about how off the wall Alabama's investigation was earlier last decade when they lost 21 schollys and 5 years probation from the NCAA and Miles Brand using secret witnesses that couldn't be questioned or cross examined and all tied to a player from Memphis named Albert Means who never played a down at Bama and his only connection to Bama was a rogue booster who's money trail was never established. Bama got a kangaroo court in Memphis, of all places and proceeded to work their vendetta against Bama because the NCAA had lost a 10 million dollar lawsuit against an actual Bama Booster who was defamed by the NCAA. Go figure...

A bunch of e-mails and internal memo's that the NCAA tried to keep sealed were unsealed as a result of Coach McNair's anti-defamation lawsuit against the NCAA. As the info. in those e-mails comes out, it seems pretty clear why the NCAA tried so hard to keep those documents sealed. It appears that the NCAA broke its own rules and went out of its way to make an example of USC.

The full quote from the e-mail cited in the tweet is:

Paul Dee was brought in at Miami to clean up a program with serious problems. USC has responded to its problems by bringing in Lane Kiffin.

Pretty funny considering what we now know was happening at the U under his watch.

The most serious accusation from McNair's lawyers is that 2 individuals were allowed to participate in deliberations and influence the committee who were not supposed to be involved in that manner. One was Rodney Uphoff (who wrote the e-mail from the above quote) and who was the NCAA's Coordinator of Appeals (in other words the guy USC had to go through to appeal the case) at the time and Roscoe Howard who was a COI rookie and only supposed to be observing the proceedings.

In a lengthy e-mail sent out to committee members Howard said of McNair:

We need not say why we disbelieve him, we only need to let the public, or whomever, know that we do disbelieve him.

Going to be interesting to see what comes of this and if it results in USC getting the wins and NC back.

Personally, I think that the sanctions were the sanctions and that bell cannot be unrung. However, the vacated wins and NC should be returned.

Bush's Heisman should continue to be vacated because he knew what he and his family were doing wasn't okay and that he was ineligible because of it.

You mean Oregon got a slap on the wrist for buying players from Texas. USC got a lot more because someone was paying a player to leave.

Oklahoma power fucked the NCAA out of TV money/rights by taking their case to the United States Supreme Court in 1984.

The NCAA didn't like that.

Oklahoma was on major probation within 4 years.

Go Figure.

The problem is how arbitrary the punishments are handed out. USC got hammered and the NCAA could not prove a single University official violated rules. Oregon and OSU get their head coaches caught in violations and little is done about it. I consider both of those case far worse than USC.

Thats why he doesn't care. His school and coach got caught paying a middle man to deliver players but somehow that got a slap on the wrist.

lel at cry babies.

"Mom, Johnny stole a cookie too, why did I get spanked?"

You guys brought up Oregon....not me....

My point is simple, and I DONT CARE WHAT SCHOOL we are talking about.

The NCAA is a fraud. A joke. A complete bullshit organization in place to make money only. You really think they care about integrity at all?

@socaljim242 you need to relax bruh.....the sanctions are over. USC is back. The NCAA is a fraud and will likely look the other way when dealing with ANY transgressions that occur at USC for the next 10 years, Y'all are good.

Good points.

I was never a fan of USC's sanctions. Other than some friendly joking, I dont refer to them as cheaters any more than I do anyone else. This whole thing really just points out how much of a fraud the NCAA is.

Personally, I could care less if the NCAA gives them their wins, NC and Heisman back. i really never considered them gone anyway.

That is ridiculous, of course you do not care. USC fans have a right to be annoyed. You were one of the lucky ones. Just say thank you to the NCAA and let them vent. At least you can do, since they took a punch for you

Its not just the punishments. Its the investigations, the side-stepping, the two-faced manner in which they do things. I will say it again, regardless of institution, the NCAA is a fraud.

Personally, I think all of college football should declare itself professional and just be done with this nonsense. lol...call themselves NFL division 2

Just sayin......

venting is one thing dude....but pointing to other schools that were not getting "punished" according to their standard? Come on man.

If you got caught doing something wrong and you didn't agree with the punishment, would you point the finger at other people? Or the people doing the punishing?

For example, if you were caught speeding, would you point out all the other speeders to the cop?

Head Coaches got caught violating rules. You can not have a better case for lack of institutional control. NCAA went so hard after USC that people questioned them, so the next 2 up got breaks. I wouldnt care if all got hammered or none got hammered, than you can adjust accordingly. Personally, I think they should write punishments in the by-laws. Then there is no ambiguity. Current system is just broken

Key word is broken.

That's my point. I am not a USC hater like many of my PAC brethren. I do however, hate the NCAA. Bunch of inconsistent phonies. I mean seriously, look at the Syracuse case recently. Fucking keystone cops and shit

Part of the reason is college football doesnt share money, which is ironic given your post that the NCAA only cares about money. The NCAA has lots of issues, but the Universities are part of the problem also.

Agreed. Probably no way to fix that problem either.

I never considered them gone either. However, it would be nice to walk through Heritage Hall and see that crystal football back in it's rightful spot.
