Lost the Texas game by half a point, but i was pulling for KState. They should have won that game.Solid. Oregon hit the over on their own lol didn't need cal points
Looked like targeting but no review at all is sketchyI don't know how that hit on Daniels wasn't reviewed for targeting
Lincoln Riley is a glorified OC. He can’t even begin to understand how to evaluate the defensive side of the ball. Some of this is on Lincoln and some of this is bad coordinators (which ultimately is his call) It's remarkable when he have that kind of offensive execution (save the ND game) and the D gives you almost nothing.
But I've seen it in OSU too. In 2018 and 2020. Both situations were bad coordinators though. And even that is a perfect example where Schiano is an above average college head coach but below average DC
My argument is that he can’t even hire that guy.I say all that to say that Riley is a hell of an offensive mind but he needs someone to handle that defense
He can't do it.
It’s not just that. Offense is prioritized every step of the way including recruiting. Plus he doesn’t let his teams hit and tackle in practice for fear of injuries to his offensive stars. This will follow him everywhere unless he changes his overall philosophy. I don’t miss it.I say all that to say that Riley is a hell of an offensive mind but he needs someone to handle that defense

A ton of teams at all levels don’t hit at practice and they have success. That’s a small piece of his failure. Like Charlie Weis and other offensive guys before him he doesn’t even know what he should be looking for in making a defensive hire. It’s not just that. I’m telling you I know about this, it’s very fundamental with him and his teams will never be tough because of it. OU has Jerry Schmidt as strength coach, one of the most respected guys in the country. He ended up leaving because Riley wouldn’t let him push guys too hard. You can challenge guys and prepare guys without going live in practice. It happens all the time. For me the only time it’s paramount to hit is bowl prep because of the layoff. Alabama Georgia etc…don’t hit in practice during the regular season.I’m telling you I know about this, it’s very fundamental with him and his teams will never be tough because of it. USC fans are seeing it first hand now, soft soft soft. You can challenge guys and prepare guys without going live in practice. It happens all the time. For me the only time it’s paramount to hit is bowl prep because of the layoff. Alabama Georgia etc…don’t hit in practice during the regular season.
