From reading Wiggy posts about Guardian prospects it seems like the farm is stacked with arms. If you have a glut at a single position it makes sense to use one of the guys that the organization doesn’t give the highest of upsides to in exchange for a 1B prospect that projects to have power. I saw the Guardians in a limited way this year in a Phil’s series. I think you gain more watching a team even in a small microcosm over just watching box scores. They struck me as a very sound baseball team that doesn’t hurt itself, takes the extra base, moves runners, plays solid defense, etc… but they really lack for that power bat that can do damage consistently with a single swing. I don’t know much about this prospect they got but if I’m seeing he’s a top 1-2 prospect in a great system like the Rays and he’s a corner IF that to me smells like a dude who has some MLB power potential.
they were stacked with arms.

Williams, Bibee and Allen are all up now- and their best pitching prospect has shoulder issues and has missed the whole year (Espino).

Espino is basically the first super-prospect the Guardians have had since Lindor. Bibee and Williams are also very highly rated guys- Williams was top 10 in the minors in the MLB.com midseason re-rank and not much lower on other publications. Allen is a rung down but was still a top 100 guy- and ironically enough- FanGraphs likes Allen (a lefty with some nice velocity and offspeed) more than Bibee or Williams.

After those 4 there really aren't any high end arms that are ready starter wise. Cantillo and Beytonfield are decent but are more back end rotation guys with more finesse stuff. Morris is probably more of a bullpen guy- but I actually like him and he has performed pretty well in the majros when he has been up. I think he was sent down to get stretched out. Ethan Hankins is a former highly rated pitcher buth ad Tommy John and is on his way back- former 2nd rounder that threw hard.

So---- I mean- the 4 main guys are all young, talented and controllable- and their is some depth but not anyone with high value in the depth--- and 3 of the 4 are up, and the other one is hurt with shoulder issues (the best one).

I am not exagerrating when I am saying that it would be a true shame if Espino never got healthy.

He probably has the best pure stuff in all of the minor leagues and among young pitchers in major league baseball. His stuff is incredible.

When healthy, Espino can destroy hitters with his top-of-the-scale fastball and plus-plus slider. He operates at 95-98 mph and tops out at 103 with a four-seamer with plenty of arm-side run, and he can use it up in the zone with carry or leverage it lower in the zone with downhill plane. He has good feel for his two-plane slider, showing the ability to work in the mid-80s with increased depth or reaching 93 mph with more horizontal action.

80 grade fastball and 70 grade slider is just not something y ou see very often.

but hes not worth much if he is hurt - that is for sure

Chesia went out like a BITCH and i was time for Ferguson to hang it up 2 fights ago.

Yeah, what's that for Ferguson? 6 straight losses now?

He should retire. His chin doesn't seem to be gone, but something is missing and he just can't bring it like he used to.

Yeah leadership is needed. Unless Lloyd or Wombach show up they won’t go far. Never been a big Morgan fan and Rapinoe is about done. Smith and Horan are fantastic, but it doesn’t appear they have enough.

@bksballer89

Thurman is a moron for even entertaining this shit.

This is a no win for him and he should shut this shit down.

So stupid.

Lol he needs to focus on fighting men. He has one fight under his belt since 2019 and is now seeking attention like crazy since the Crawford fight

I could understand the initial angst as fans are going to overreact and be emotional. For them it's just "oh, no...he's our best pitcher lately". But the guy also has stretches where he does not pitch well and has been known to get hurt a lot, too. Seems like maybe we sold high (wish we did the same before the season on Bieber).

As mentioned, this FO at least seems to know what they are doing when they trade SPs so have to at least see how it plays out with the kid they got.

Yeah who really knows. His power is around 50. Naylor, for example, was projected 55 power. And he is a 20 HR guy for the last two years basically. You really never know. Manzardo is more of a pure hitter and has a great eye at the place so that in itself is great but the Indians need power in a big way, multiple bats. It's been like this for many years.

Vlatko has the US ladies looking like dogshit. Very high chance Sweden bounces them in the KO.

Interesting question on Dan Patrick today.

Suppose DeShaun Watson has a great season and leads the Browns to a 14-3 record...

Does he win MVP?

Or does the recent off the field stuff get used against him even though it's technically not supposed to?

I think if he's clearly the best QB (or at least has the best numbers) there is a good chance he'd win it. Would need to be obvious IMO.

Depends on how great his season is compared to e other top contenders.

If it is close?

He probably loses.

But if he has a year where he is clearly top dog?

Sure he gets it.

But I think the odds of that are extremely low.

Agree. There are some who will vote against him no matter what.

But yeah, if he's clearly the top player...he likely gets it.

Yeah, and it is almost always at least a debate between the top couple players.

How many times has it been totally obvious in the past 20 years?

Thinking Mahomes first maybe, Tom Brady in 2010 and maybe the Lamar Jackson one.

Just doesn’t happen often.

Yeah I'm pretty sure even if he has a great year they will be able to give it to someone else if they want. a lot of good QBs.
