Ironically, Baker's improvement is because he is being more of a system QB and game manager.

Yep, exactly my point. I'm watching Sam yesterday and last week and I'm thinking, this is a lot of what we've seen Baker go through. Learning how to manage the game and knowing when to try to make/force a play.

You hear about PM's little brother yet? He lost his cool last night. So a Ravens fan was giving him some shit saying to him after the comeback win- "I'm so sorry for ya". Then Jackson Mahomes poured a bottle of water over his head. :pound:

Little brother should have replied- that's okay it's only one game, Patrick has a ring. Does Lamar have a ring?

yeah, that CEH fumble was a killer, though the fact that we couldn't stop a friggin' nose bleed was worse. Kinda shows why you never take your foot off the gas. Reid SHOULD know that...

Feel kinda bad for the Chargers next week. Mahomes & Company might be in a bad mood after last night and take it out on them. Very disappointed your team didn't help my team out and take care of business. Really wanted the Ravens to start 0-2.

I guess I can see calling risky as you know he's second guessed if it fails. That said, the best coaches don't care about that and follow the numbers.

Punting there is playing not to lose.

Playing not to lose makes you lose more often than not.

Not sure I'd call it playing not to lose per se.....but it's playing against your own percentages. I do wonder if they make the same decision against a tough defense with a mediocre offense. Thinking no as the opponent also factors into the %.

I think so. Ravens get to do what they do best and only need 1 yard out of it

I'm not so sure as I think what KC would do down by 2 with ball on, say, their own 20-30 with 45 seconds (I don't remember how much, exactly) factors in. If they were playing, say, WFT, I think they punt.

Just my guess.

If the score was 36-35 which indicates that the defense been struggling then I think they still go for it.....now if it was 17-16 then I agree with you

Of course it would be different against say the WFT.

For years and years every NFL coach made the decision to punt no matter what. Then Belicek went on 4th and 2 on his own 28 against the Colts. He missed it and got a lot of flack for it.

But it also changed the way people think about those decisions.

Belicek made the right call back then too, even though it didn’t work out.

That is funny.

I wrote my previous comment before seeing this.

WFT might be the best example of good defense and mediocre offense.

Although the D has struggled a bit this far.

There are so many layers to this decision that have to be judged:
1. Quality of the QB on the other side
2. Quality of your short yardage conversion package
3. Field position
4. Weather elements
5. Quality of your defense
6. Success of game plan to that point in the game.
7. Past performance in similar situations
8. Quality of my punter and coverage unit
9. Home or on the road

It’s not a cookie cutter situation on either side of the debate. I think all of the above and shit I haven’t even thought about go into processing this decision.

3 QB's with 4k yards passing and 10 or less INT's the last 2 seasons.

Mahomes.

Rodgers.

And Carr.
