Raiders were content to play for a tie then the chargers called a timeout. My god this coach is a moron
Not really so sure that was the case. Raiders were likely going to run that play regardless (had to run another one). My guess is LAC was just making sure they'd be ready to stop an obvious run.....and they failed.

Such a common thing for coaches to not understand optimal clock management strategy.

It really isn’t that difficult. All about understanding when you want the clock to run and when you don’t.

Last night, clock running was good for the Chargers.
Yes, but they knew one more play had to be run whether he called TO or not. He made sure to call it AFTER there was less than 40 seconds left.

Yeqh I agree. But if they had stopped that run we likely would have seen a tie.

Pretty sure i never said he sucks but you are the king of making shit up. I did criticized him but never said he sucks
Honestly, I thought it was kind of sad the best thing about his team going to the playoffs was the opinions of some guy he really doesn't even know?

On that I agree. No reason to risk a deep FG. Honestly, a bit of a risk even with the closer one but I guess I get it.....but wow would he have been ripped if it backfired.

Yeah, didn’t realize there was so little time on the play clock.

Still.

Extra time to figure out a play is more advantageous to the offense, IMO.

And if you are going to call the TO to switch to a run defense, you damn well better stop that next run.

Agreed. Sometimes common sense has to win over analytics...
While I can agree I can also respect his all in approach. If you are gonna follow your odds then follow your odds. sure, game situation and opponent should be factored in but likely they are.

I don't even think it was to switch anything up. Pretty sure LV was always running and they already had the D for that out on the field. It was more to let them catch their breath and realize they might very well try to get yards and kick the FG as opposed to just be conservative and run it out.

sure the D failed...but criticizing that is far different than criticizing the idea of just taking the TO.

Is there not any grace period with delay of game as there is in the NFL?
